In a recent interview with Daily Beast, playwright Tony Kushner chats about one of his current projects- WEST SIDE STORY. Kushner is rewriting the book for the classic movie for director Steven Spielberg. Don't expect any changes to the score, however. "I am not touching in any way the greatest score of a musical ever written,' says Kushner. 'I love the [1961] film. Who doesn't? I am not changing the story, the setting, the period. It is still the Upper West Side in the late 1950s, but I'm exploring the story.'

Next up at Encores! Off-Center is Kirsten Childs' delightful, provocative, and poignant 2000 musical, The Bubbly Black Girl Sheds Her Chameleon Skin, running July 26-27. Following a young African-American dancer, Viveca, from West Coast suburbia to Broadway, all the while navigating the politics of race and gender in an attempt to uncover her own identity, The Bubbly Black Girl Sheds Her Chameleon Skin is directed by Robert O'Hara with choreography by Byron Easley and music direction by Annastasia Victory.

Alec Baldwin has been cast as Col. Nathan Jessep in NBC's upcoming live A FEW GOOD MEN, from esteemed playwright and Oscar and Emmy winner Aaron Sorkin, who will executive produce and adapt his own play for the broadcast.

Classic Stephen Sondheim musical Follies, which opens at the Olivier Theatre this August, will be broadcast live to cinemas across the UK and internationally on Thursday November 16th as part of National Theatre Live.

The best of Broadway will perform for FREE on six consecutive Thursdays this summer with '106.7 LITE FM's Broadway in Bryant Park 2017' - a lunchtime series on the Bryant Park Stage. Hosted by LITE FM's on-air personalities, the 17th annual presentation of open-air, On- and Off- Broadway lunch hour performances will run through Thursday, August 10.

Ingrid Michaelson has more than one reason to celebrate this summer. Following the release of her latest EP, Alter Egos, the multi-platinum recording artist is calling the Imperial Theatre home, playing Sonya in the Tony Award-winning musical NATASHA, PIERRE & THE GREAT COMET OF 1812. Michaelson's trip to Imperial Russia will be brief, as the songstress will only be performing the role through August 15, while Brittain Ashford, who originated the role takes a temporary leave from the show.

Academy Award-winning filmmaker, best-selling author, and political icon Michael Moore begins rehearsals today for his thought-provoking and controversial Broadway debut in The Terms of My Surrender. Directed by Tony Award-winner, Michael Mayer (Spring Awakening, American Idiot, Hedwig and the Angry Inch), Moore will be targeting President Trump using his signature political savvy and theatrical persona in this unique Broadway experience, taking place just down the street from Trump Tower and next door to George Orwell's 1984 at The Hudson Theatre. The limited 12-week engagement will begin previews at Broadway's Belasco Theatre (111 W 44th Street) on Friday, July 28, 2017 with an official opening night set for Thursday, August 10, 2017.

Tasha Lawrence, Morocco Omari, Karen Pittman, Namir Smallwood, Jaime Lincoln Smith, and Heather Velazquez are featured in Lincoln Center Theater's production of Pipeline, a new play by Dominique Morisseau, directed by Lileana Blain-Cruz, which opened just last night, July 10, at the Mitzi E.
