Nicole Rosky

Nicole is the Editor-in-Chief of BroadwayWorld, where she began her journey as an intern in 2010. As BroadwayWorld's Senior Managing Editor, a role she took on in 2012, she covered over a decade's-worth of theatre and live entertainment in New York City and around the world. Throughout her time with BroadwayWorld, Nicole has worked extensively with the photo and video team, producing (and sometimes editing) a great deal of the site's original programming, including Backstage with Richard Ridge, Dance Captain Dance Attack, Next on Stage, Kid Critics, and Teen Critics, just to name a few. Originally from outside of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, she is a proud graduate of Penn State University's College of Communications. Nicole currently resides in Brooklyn, New York, where she gets to enjoy far more great theatre than she ever dreamed. Her first great role was "Billy Flynn" in her fourth grade musical theatre class. Oh, how far she has come!

  • Tony Nominee Reactions - I have had the pleasure of covering every Tony Awards season since 2011 and one of my favorite parts is hearing from the nominees just moments after they find out that they ARE nominees.
  • Theatre Queens - When I'm not at a Broadway show, you'll find me at home, catching up on the latest episodes of RuPaul's Drag Race. I've had a blast chatting with many of the queens who call theatre their first love.
  • Broadway Jukebox - I love a good playlist and I find myself making them OFTEN. I've curated over 100 musical theatre playlists for BroadwayWorld (my personal favorite is "Female Anthems of Broadway"). Give them a listen and follow BroadwayWorld on Spotify to find out what I come up with next!
  • Broadway By Design - I created this series after realizing how little information is shared about the theatrical design process and it has become one of my favorite ongoing features.
  • Next On Stage - Working on this project and having the opportunity to spotlight so many talented young people from around the country has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my career.


John Bucchino Visits Carnegie Mellon, 10/23

Acclaimed Broadway and cabaret composer/lyricist, JOHN BUCCHINO, will join students from Carnegie Mellon's School of Drama for a cabaret of his work. The evening, set for Saturday, 10/23 @ 10:30pm at the Cabaret at Theater Square in Downtown Pittsburgh, will be a celebration of Bucchino's work.

NAMT to Feature Songwriters Showcase, 10/21

The National Alliance for Musical Theatre (NAMT) has announced additional casting and Songwriters Showcase line-up for its 22nd Annual Festival of New Musicals taking place on Thursday, October 21 and Friday, October 22, 2010 at New World Stages in New York City. The Industry-only two-day event features 8 new musicals in 45-minute staged readings.

According to a report by Variety, a slew of celebrities are on board for The Rocky Horror Picture Show Tribute at Los Angeles' Wiltern Theater.The event, which will be hed on October 28, will be directed by Kenny Ortega and will feature Evan Rachel Wood, Mario Lopez, Jorge Garcia, Julian McMahon, Ricki Lake, Melora Hardin, Danny DeVito, Billy Idol, Lea Michele and Matthew Morrison.

Creel, Rivera Set for Birdland in November

Gavin Creel is set to perform his new cabaret, Back to New York at Birdland on Mondays, November 1, 8, and 15 at 7pm. Creel is returning from appearing in the West End production of Hair after appearing in the Broadway production last year. Creel has also appeared on Broadway in Thorougly Modern Millie.

Lloyd Webber to Remodel Palladium Theatre

According to a report by The Guardian, Andrew Lloyd Webber, along with many other theatre veterans celebrated the 100th birthday of his Palladium Theatre, where his new production of The Wizard of Oz will play next February. He also announced plans to remodel the front of the house and add more ladies restrooms.

Recording artists Demi Lovato and Taio Cruz revealed the 2010 American Music Awards(R) (AMAs) nominees this morning from the JW Marriott Los Angeles at L.A. LIVE (see full list of nominees below). Bon Jovi, P!nk and Usher were also announced as performers for the 38th annual AMAs. Additional acts and presenters will be announced in the coming weeks.

39 STEPS Tops List of 'Most Produced Plays'

According to and article by Benjamin Sutton in The L Magazine, the Theatre Communications Group, has revealed which playwrights have the most works to be produced this season in the United States. In the top slot is Patrick Barlow who adapted Hitchcock's hilarious 1935 film, THE 39 STEPS.

LA Times on Pasadena Playhouse's Comeback

In a a recent article in the LA Times, Mark Boehm discussed the re-opening of Pasadena Playhouse, in addition to its latest production, FDR, starring Ed Asner. Boehm says, 'Sheldon Epps, the Pasadena Playhouse's artistic director, is touting the 'very sexy story' that's unfolding as his theater returns Tuesday night with its first show since it closed Feb. 7, then reopened in U.S. Bankruptcy Court.'
