GLEE's Mark Salling to Release New Solo Album, 10/12

GLEE star Mark Salling, who plays Puck on the hit show, will be releasing his new solo album, 'Pipe Dreams,' on October 12 under the banner of his own label, Pipe Dreams Records. The album, reports USMagazine, will have a 'classic rock 'n' roll, alternative music and a '60s folk-beat era sound.' Salling is said to be writing performing and producing each track on the disc. The first single, 'Higher Power,' was released on August 10.

he third annual Los Angeles Festival of New American Musicals will close with a special concert honoring one of LA's greatest musical theatre composers, Tony Award-winning Jason Robert Brown. The FNAM closing party will be held on August 21, at 4PM. The concert will feature Jason Robert Brown on the piano, accompanied by special guests Adam Pascal, Lara Pulver, Graham Phillips, Nita Whitaker, and The Theatre Geeks of America singing to several of Brown's works.

'Les Misérables Live!' 2010 Tour Cast Recording Gets 9/13 UK Release

According to Dress Circle, a special 25th anniversary two-disc edition of 'Les Misérables Live!' will be released in the UK on September 13. The recorded cast includes Madalena Alberto, Ashley Artus, Earl Carpenter, Gareth Gates, Katie Hall, Rosalind James, and other members of the 2010 UK Tour. The tour will play at the Barbican Theatre in London for 22 performances, beginning on September 14.

Goodman Theatre announces the 12-member cast for Robert Fall's intimate new production of Anton Chekhov's The Seagull (rehearsals begin August 24, tickets go on sale August 13). This 19th century masterpiece is brought to life by a company including Francis Guinan (August: Osage County; The Grapes of Wrath) in his Goodman debut as the retired judge Peter Sorin and Mary Beth Fisher (Rock 'N' Roll; The Year of Magical Thinking) as his sister, Irina Arkadina, a beautiful, selfish actress. Also joining the cast are Janet Ulrich Brooks (Polina); Rebecca Buller (Maid); Cliff Chamberlain (Boris Trigorin, Irina's young lover), Dietrich Gray (Yakov); Stephen Louis Grush (Konstantin Trepliov, Irina's twenty-five year old playwright son); Scott Jaeck (Dr. Eugene Dorn); Kelly O'Sullivan (Masha); Steve Pickering (Ilia Shamrayev, Sorin's estate manager); Demetrios Troy (Simon Medvendenko); and Heather Wood (Nina Zarietchnaya). Yellow Sound Label has announced the release of a ground-breaking new album from recording artist and musical theatre star Jeremiah James. The CD will be available August 10. Entitled TUPELO, also the birthplace of Elvis Presley, the album contains 12 songs made famous by Presley re-interpreted and re-arranged by New York's finest jazz and pop musicians. Jeremiah James has been a Presley fan since he was a child and his mother would grease his hair back for him so he could look more like The King.

Jewish Museum Presents 'Music for Aardvarks and Other Mammals' Starting 9/14

Beginning September 14, The Jewish Museum presents Music for Aardvarks and Other Mammals, a weekly music class for toddlers on ten Tuesdays through November 16. This hip and original class is being taught by Mike Messer, lead singer of the Dirty Sock Funtime Band. Two sessions are offered, the first from 10:00 to 10:45 am, and the second from to 11:00 to 11:45 am. Toddlers ages 6 months to 4 years and their parents will enjoy singing, dancing and jumping in this interactive program with musical instruments, props, bubbles, parachutes and other surprises. They will learn songs celebrating the lives of kids in the city, as well as more traditional and universal themes. A stimulating and fertile musical environment, positive role models, and gentle guidance and encouragement provide an enriching and vital experience. The classes help young children gain a sense of themselves and a connection to the world they live in.
