She is a published author, equally comfortable in the realms of fiction and non-fiction, an award-winning actress who has conquered stage and screens (big and small), a screenwriter whose 2003 hit film Anything But Love was deemed a 'charmer' by the Los Angeles Times, and a playwright and composer who adapted her first novel, The J.A.P. Chronicles, into an off-Broadway musical that enjoyed an extended run in early 2006. If that weren't enough, she also graduated summa cum laude from Yale.

The NewFilmmakers NY Series will have an evening filled with different screenings on Wednesday, August 4, 2010. The evening will take place at the Anthology Film Archives on the Lower East Side, NYC, at 32 Second Avenue & 2nd Street. Tickets for the night are $6 and are available at the Anthology Box Office the night of the screening.

Two generations of Australian ballet talent come together to present Edge of night for The Australian Ballet in 2010. Fight Fest 2010 Applications have been extended to August 2! The smash hit of 2009 returns in December to bloody you up. FIGHT FEST is a theater festival dedicated to showcasing the art of stage combat, curated by Timothy Haskell (creator of Road House, the stage version of the cinema classic; Nightmare: New York's Most Horrifying Haunted House and The Jaded Assassin), Abby Marcus and Qui Nguyen of Vampire Cowboys Theatre Company (Fight Girl Battle World and Soul Samurai), and the staff of The Brick (creators of The Kung Fu Importance of Being Earnest and Macbeth Without Words).

Finishing up the third week of a 4-week engagement, Disney's THE LION KING has already broken box office records previously held for touring theatre in Vancouver. The British Columbia premiere engagement is now playing through August 8, 2010 and is averaging $1.8 million Canadian per week. The engagement, which the Vancouver Sun enthused, 'is as pure and powerful a piece of theatre as anything ever seen on stage,' has already sold more than 80,000 tickets and generated over $7.3 million Canadian at the box office.

The School of Visual Arts has several continuous art exhibitions for the month of August. These exhibitions will be held at the four galleries around town. All exhibitions are free and open to the public. The Visual Arts Gallery and the Westside Gallery will be closed from Friday, September 3 at 1 p.m. through Monday, September 6 for the Labor Day Weekend.

The Grove Theatre announces auditions for Savin' Up For Saturday Night*. Last year's hit honky-tonk musical comedy is back and headed to the Grove Theatre in Upland, October 22nd - November 21st!

Bree Shannon didn't always want to become an actress. She graduated from the University of Georgia with a BFA in interior design and worked for firms in Atlanta and New York City before finally committing herself to the Pinch n' Ouch Theatre as a Co-Artistic Director following the recession in 2008. 'I thought what better time than now to follow my heart,' says Shannon. 'I was scared and didn't know what the [acting] industry had to offer, but I knew I was ready.'

The Boulder Theatre, in association with Colorado Daily & Radio 1190's Basementalism, will be presenting Wiz Khalifa on October 8, 2010. Pittsburgh has long been searching for its first major Hip Hop star. Some have flirted with success, while others have floundered in the masses. At the age of 19, Wiz Khalifa has developed into the prodigy that Pittsburgh has been looking for, and he plans to represent his city to the fullest.
