The Brooklyn Book Festival will be held Friday, September 10th to Sunday, September 12th. The Brooklyn Book Festival showcases more than 200 national and international authors in readings and panel discussions as well as 175 booksellers, publishers, presses and organizations in an outdoor literary marketplace. Also, poet John Ashbery will accept the 'BoBi' award on Saturday at the Festival Gala.

Davidson Community Center will hold auditions for actors and actresses in grades 6th through 12th for their production, ONCE ON THIS ISLAND, on August 22nd and 23rd. The auditions on the 22nd will be at 2PM and the auditions on the 23rd will be at 7PM. Auditionees should arrive no later than 3PM and 8PM on each day, respectively. Lyric Theatre in Oklahoma City begins classes for its Lyric Theatre Academy on August 23rd. FIAF and Japan Society Co-present the NY Premiere of Ryoji Ikeda's Hyper Visual Live Sound Experience, datamatics [ver. 2.0], on Friday, September 10th and Saturday, September 11th at 8PM. The Civic Center of Greater Des Moines announces tickets for the upcoming 9 TO 5: THE MUSICAL tour will go on sale on Friday, August 27th at 10AM. Starting in October, the New Museum (235 Bowery) will present two contemporary thematic group exhibitions: 'The Last Newspaper' and 'Free.' From October 6th to January 9th, 'The Last Newspaper' will be presented on the third through fifth floors. 'Free' will be located on the second floor from October 20th to January 23rd.

The 5th Annual FringeNYC Encore Series announces that it will be held September 9th through the 26th at the Lucille Lortel Theater and The Players Theatre. The FringeNYC Encores Series is an annual showcase some of the critically acclaimed and most crowd-pleasing shows from the 2010 New York International Fringe Festival. ShenanArts will hold auditions from its upcoming production of THE OUTSIDERS on Saturday, August 28th from 10AM to 2PM. The show is based on the novel by S.E. Hinton.

Idaho Falls Arts Council hosts Battle of the Bands 2010 as part of the Snake River Roaring Youth Jam on August 14th, from 3PM to 10PM at the Civitan's Plaza, on the corner of B and Shoup. As many as 15 bands will compete for their share of over $2000 in prizes. There is a $50 entry fee per band or a $100 business sponsorship. All band members must be 21 or younger. Auditions for all ages and styles are being held August 13-14 for 'Northglenn's Got Talent.' The talent show is a FUNdraiser for the Northglenn Arts and Humanities Foundation (NAHF). Auditions and performance will be held at the D.L. Parsons Theatre inside the Northglenn Recreation Center at 11801 Community Center Drive in Northglenn. It is sponsored by NAHF and all proceeds benefit the Foundation.

The Jackson Gallery at Town Hall Theater announce the opening of Janest Fredericks' 'It's All About Water' from Friday, August 13th to Saturday, September 25th. The exhibit features paintings and works on paper celebrating the local waterways.
