Jeffrey Wolin Opens Portraits Exhibit at Lyon Septembre de la Photographie, 9/9August 27, 2010Indiana University photography Professor Jeffrey Wolin titled 'From All Sides: Portraits of American and Vietnamese War Veterans' at Lyon Septembre de la Photographie, an international biennial in Lyon, France, opening Sept. 9. The biennial will include the work of photographers from around the world, as well as performances by dancers in the evenings during the festival.

North Shore Opera Hour Presents Bizet's CARMEN, 8/22August 19, 2010The North Shore Opera Hour will present a staged production of Peter Brook's adaptation of Bizet's opera Carmen on August 22 at 7:30pm at the Skokie Theatre. Brook's version captures the fundamental soul of Bizet's opera by focusing on the four main characters; Carmen, Don Jose, Micaela and Escamillo. 'La Tragédie de Carmen' won the 1984 special Tony Award for Outstanding Achievement in Musical Theatre. The basic elements of this tragedy are still intact, offering familiar arias and duets.

New York Russian Jewish Youth Council Hosts Eclectic Beat Box, 9/2August 19, 2010The New York Russian Jewish Youth Council (NYRJYC) kicks off the fall season on Thursday, September 2nd at 7PM with Eclectic Beat Box. The event will be at Soiree (199 Bowery St.) and features live musical performances, hip Israeli landscapes and some of the best bands the city has to offer. Tickets are $10; all proceeds from the event will go to benefit Sunrise Lake Camp, a residential summer camp in Cold Spring, New York that provides programming to children afflicted with cancer.
