World-renowned vocalist Sarah Brightman took on a new kind of role earlier this week at the SpaceshipTwo Christening, singing 'Happy Birthday,' both to Virgin Galactic Founder Richard Branson's granddaughter, Eva-Deia, and the vehicle itself. Eva-Deia turned one on the day of the event. Check out the video here!

After a successful run on Broadway as well as a national tour through the country, the high-flying, tony awards-winning hit musical PIPPIN is heading to Europe. Hailed by audiences and critics alike this 'eye-popping, jaw-dropping extravaganza' opens in Amsterdam, The Netherlands on March 9 for a 5-weeks run through April 10. The European premiere is on March 10.

Carrollwood Players will present the mystery-drama GETTING THE GOLD by P.J. Barry from March 11 - March 26, 2016.

The national tour of the Broadway musical CHICAGO is coming to Folsom, but not until August.  On Wednesday afternoon the Harris Center received notice from the show's tour management of the need to reschedule the Folsom engagement's seven performances originally planned for March 3-6.  By Friday, theatres on the west coast had received confirmation of new performance dates in August and the Harris Center began contacting its ticket holders about the change.

Bad Quarto Productions, a theatre company specializing in performing modern theatre using Shakespearean staging techniques, will stage the first quarto of Hamlet, the earliest printed version of Shakespeare's most famous play. Printed in 1603, the first quarto of Hamlet was published just a year before the first of the more familiar printings of the play. Shorter, faster paced, and more action packed than the second quarto and First Folio versions, the first quarto of Hamlet forces us to reconsider what we know about both Hamlet and Shakespeare as a dramatist.

Six-time Tony Award winner Audra McDonald sat down with Shanice Williams (THE WIZ LIVE ON NBC!) in an Artist to Artist talk at the David Rubenstein Atrium, offering 11 pieces of advice for performers. McDonald's advice ranges from the inspirational ('Be uniquely you') to the practical ('Read the script!). 

According to Inquirer, composer Claude-Michel Schonberg (LES MIS, MISS SAIGON) has claimed that the upcoming Manila Production of LES MIS will be 'an entirely different one, unlike anything you had seen before.' The production, which will be performing this March in Manila, will tour throughout Asia and celebrates the musical's 30th anniversary.

Everyone's favorite storybook characters are brought together for a timeless yet relevant piece and rare modern classic. The Tony Award-winning book and score are both enchanting and touching.  The story follows a Baker and his wife who wish to have a child, Cinderella who wishes to attend the King's Festival, and Jack who wishes his cow would give milk. When the Baker and his wife learn that they cannot have a child because of a Witch's curse, the two set off on a journey to break the curse. Everyone's wish is granted, but the consequences of their actions return to haunt them later with disastrous results.

This is an amusing story of the age-old tale of Boy-Meets-Girl and the complications which ensue wrapped around one of Cole Porter's magical scores. Terrific Cole Porter songs include It's De-Lovely, Friendship, I Get A Kick Out Of You, All Through The Night, Anything Goes, You're The Top and Blow, Gabriel, Blow.

Refugees takes place in the home of an Icelandic family in Hlin Agnarsdottir's highly relevant play from 2010. Vala returns to Iceland from New York to find her mother's house occupied by her two unemployed brothers, Bo and Dan, and Dan's Estonian girlfriend, Elena. It turns out that the brothers are not the only ones living off the goodwill of the mother; the granddaughter, Sara, is hiding refugees in the basement. The family's crises merge with both the Icelandic economic crisis and the international refugee crisis on many levels. But with a clever hint to the Old Testament's nativity of Jesus, this story may have a happy ending . . . 

Articulate Theatre, an ensemble collection of playwrights, actors, directors and designers, is presenting its signature benefit performance -Articulating the Arts: Folk City Scenes. The event includes a discussion after the Saturday show with producer Doug Yeager, musician Phil Marsh, director David Marquez and author/curator Stephen Petrus.

Thousands of dancers are limbering up in preparation for the 10th Annual Dance Parade and Festival in New York on Saturday May 21st 2016.  The annual event is a street parade and dance festival in a city park that brings together dancers from around the city and as far away as Japan to showcase dance styles in a multi-cultural, rhythmic-infused magical display of human movement, art and color. 

Long Beach Opera (LBO) announces the world premiere of Fallujah, the first opera composed about the Iraq War experience. This powerful work by Canadian composer Tobin Stokes and Iraqi-American librettist Heather Raffo is about the anguish of war, the residual scars of battle, and the search for hope and redemption. Like many veterans returning from combat, the opera's central character struggles to come to terms with the violence he has experienced and to reconnect the broken bonds to his family and friends.

The University of Hartford's Hartt School Dance Division presents "Reflected Light", the Spring Senior Dance and Music Collaboration, Friday, March 4th at 7:30 p.m., and Saturday, March 5 at 2:00 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. in the Edward C. and Ann T.
