Among this year's nominees for Outstanding Musical Production by a Large Theater are WAITRESS and NATASHA, PIERRE, AND THE  GREAT COMET OF 1812, both at American Repertory Theatre. Tony winner Jessie Mueller and Denee Benton also each received nods for their respective performances. 

The acclaimed Calidore String Quartet caps their artistic residency at Stony Brook University with a Carnegie Hall debut performance on Tuesday, May 10th at 8 p.m. in Carnegie's Weill Recital Hall. The concert propels the quartet into their next high-profile residency with the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center II, slated to begin in the 2016 fall concert season. CSQ is the first North American ensemble to be awarded the prestigious Borletti-Buitoni fellowship. This Carnegie recital will feature string quartet works by masterful composers, including two late works by Mozart and Mendelssohn - Mozart's String Quartet in D Major, K. 575 and Mendelssohn's String Quartet in F Minor, Op. 80 - and an early yet radical chamber work by Hindemith, String Quartet No. 4, Op. 22. NICE WORK IF YOU CAN GET IT whisks the fabulous Roaring Twenties, that golden era of glamour and music, up and out of the history books and brings it to life in a dazzling new production from esteemed director Chip Gallagher and the Virginia Musical Theatre. Featuring classic Gershwin tunes, this new favorite from Tony Award winner Joe DiPietro is based on a classic 1927 Gershwin musical but reimagined for the modern era. The musical first debuted on Broadway in 2012 and has since made waves on both national and global stages with a 2014-2015 U.S national tour and a successful run at the Stage Theatre in Melbourne, Australia.

HAMILTON: THE REVOLUTION, co-authored by Lin-Manuel Miranda and Jeremy McCarter, was released earlier this week. 'Jane Eyre' is a musical drama based on the classic novel by Charlotte Bronte - it premiered on Broadway in 2000 and received five Tony Awards, including 'Best Musical'. The Barn Players' presentation of the musical opens today, Friday, April 15th and continues through Sunday May 1st at the Barn Players Theatre, 6219 Martway in Mission. The play is rated 'PG' and features husband and wife, Alisha and Matt Richardson, in starring roles; Alisha as Jane Eyre and Matt as Rochester.

Master vocalist and Symphony Siren Diva N'Kenge (Motown: The Musical and Sondheim and Sondheim) comes to Sarasota, FL for the first time debuting with conductor Jack Everly at the Sarasota Symphony for the exciting The Beat Goes On show, set for tonight, Friday and tomorrow, Saturday, April 15 - April 16, 2016 (8:00pm).

Actors' Summit Akron's Professional theater's 1980 Pulitzer Prize winning play Talley's Folly, by Lanford Wilson opens tonight. A dessert reception with the director and cast follows the performance on opening night. The show runs until May 1.

Ebony Jo-Ann, a 'Blackgold' acclaimed Blues vocalist, multiple award winning Broadway, film and television actress, and social activist, is in residence during the month of April at Ashford & Simpson's Sugar Bar, 254 W. 72nd St. in New York, for the first time since 2011, to reprise Nuttin' But the Blues, the Sugar Bar's weekly Blues series, which she co-created with the late Nick Ashford. According to The New York Times, Tony Award winning choreographer Twyla Tharp will present her latest work this summer at the Joyce Theater. The work is currently untitled and is 'a dramatic piece set to a late Beethoven quartet.' Ms. Tharp is currently the artist in residence at the theatre.

Tangent Theatre Company, based in their intimate Carpenter Shop Theater in Tivoli, announces their Spring 2016 main-stage production: the award-winning Circle Mirror Transformation by Annie Baker. Set in a small Vermont town, the story centers around a local acting class and the truths revealed as the group's time together unfolds. In addition to the featured female playwright, the show will spotlight a wide range of female talents: three acting artists, the director, producer, set and lighting designers, wardrobe supervisor and house manager are all established women in the field.
