Among this year's nominees for Outstanding Musical Production by a Large Theater are WAITRESS and NATASHA, PIERRE, AND THE GREAT COMET OF 1812, both at American Repertory Theatre. Tony winner Jessie Mueller and Denee Benton also each received nods for their respective performances.
The acclaimed Calidore String Quartet caps their artistic residency at Stony Brook University with a Carnegie Hall debut performance on Tuesday, May 10th at 8 p.m. in Carnegie's Weill Recital Hall. The concert propels the quartet into their next high-profile residency with the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center II, slated to begin in the 2016 fall concert season. CSQ is the first North American ensemble to be awarded the prestigious Borletti-Buitoni fellowship. Tangent Theatre Company, based in their intimate Carpenter Shop Theater in Tivoli, announces their Spring 2016 main-stage production: the award-winning Circle Mirror Transformation by Annie Baker. Set in a small Vermont town, the story centers around a local acting class and the truths revealed as the group's time together unfolds. In addition to the featured female playwright, the show will spotlight a wide range of female talents: three acting artists, the director, producer, set and lighting designers, wardrobe supervisor and house manager are all established women in the field.
