Bay Street Players to Hold Auditions for DRACULA, 7/18 & 7/19

Bay Street Players will hold auditions for Dracula on July 18th & 19th at 7:30PM at 109 N. Bay Street, Eustis. No appointment is necessary. Artistic Director David Clevinger is looking for 6 males ages 20-60 and 2 females ages 20-30. Newcomers are welcome. Anyone not interested in performing onstage is invited to join our team of volunteers and to learn of backstage opportunities needed for this production.

Arizona Theatre Company announces the selection of THE LAST RED BOOK by Tucson writer Michael Fenlason as the winner of the 2011 Arizona Playwriting Award. Fenlason will receive a cash award and ATC will hold a reading of his play. The runner up for the Award was NO ROOSTERS IN THE DESERT by Kara Hartzler. ATC's Arizona Playwriting Award is in its second year. It recognizes an outstanding work for the stage by an Arizona writer.

Eighteen of the theatre industry's highly regarded playwrights, theatrical agents and artistic directors will jury the 40 short plays featured in the 36th Annual SAMUEL FRENCH INC. OFF OFF BROADWAY SHORT PLAY FESTIVAL beginning July 19th at the Lion Theatre on Theatre Row (410 West 42nd Street). Six winners will be chosen to have their plays licensed and published by Samuel French, Inc.

The weekend honors instructors and teachers who are working to make a difference for their students and communities through the process of staging musical theatre productions in their schools and educational theatre groups.

The Broadway at Birdland concert series is proud to present the American concert debut of Dutch performer Willemijn Verkaik, best known to theater lovers for originating the role of Elphaba in the German production of Wicked. This event will take place at Birdland on Monday, August 22 at 7pm. Verkaik, backed by a seven piece rhythm and string section, will sing the work of today's most celebrated composers and will be joined by two very special guest composers, Jason Robert Brown (Parade; Last Five Years) and Scott Alan (Dreaming Wide Awake; Home), who will accompany the singer on work from their songbooks. Other special guests will be announced in the coming weeks. This concert will mark Verkaik's American concert debut.

With the summer now in full swing and families on the lookout for activities to fill the hot summer evenings, The Way Off Broadway Dinner Theatre is announcing a 'Family Summer Savings' deal for its current production of the musical Hairspray. For Friday evening and Sunday matinee performances between July 15th and August 25th, with the purchase of 1 Regular Priced Adult ticket, the younger family members get a discount on their ticket prices. Tickets for children 12 and younger will then be $20 (regularly $32) and 13 to 17 year olds will be $25 (regularly $42).
