Paul Garman, Executive Director/Producer of Musical Theatre West, is proud to announce the cast of Rodgers and Hammerstein's OKLAHOMA!, previewing February 15, opening February 16 at 8pm, and continuing through March 3. Davis Gaines (LA's Phantom of the Opera, Ovation Award winner for Musical Theatre West's Man of La Mancha) makes his Los Angeles-area directorial debut with this production. As with all Musical Theatre West productions, OKLAHOMA! is locally-produced in Long Beach with professional actors from Broadway, national tours, film and television, including the best in local talent.

New England Conservatory will present the American premiere of Rossini's comic opera, La Gazzetta (The Newspaper) in the 2002 critical edition by Philip Gossett and Fabrizio Scipioni, April 6-9, 2013 at the Paramount Theater in Boston. Not only will this production mark the first time the critical edition has been performed in the United States, but it will feature the world premiere of the Act I quintet recovered in 2011 in the Library of the Conservatory of Palermo. The fully staged production with all-student cast and orchestra will be conducted by Joseph Rescigno, Artistic Advisor and Principal Conductor of Florentine Opera Company of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and directed by Chair of Opera Studies Joshua Major. The leading women's roles, Lisetta and Doralice, will be sung (April 6, 8 performances) by soprano Soyoung Park and mezzo soprano Jaime Korkos, currently candidates for the Artist Diploma in Opera.

Maryland Ensemble Theatre (MET) has announced its winter schedule of classes for The Ensemble School. Taught by working actors and directors, The Ensemble School is a training ground for professional and aspiring actors of all skill levels with classes for students from age seven to adult. All classes are 12-week sessions that begin on or after February 11, meet once a week and are limited to 12 students. All classes are held at Maryland Ensemble Theatre located in the historic FSK Hotel at 31 W Patrick Street in downtown Frederick. 'We provide a safe and productive training ground for actors of all ages -- a place where they can take risks and learn the skills they'll need for a life on the stage', said Gené Fouché, the Director of The Ensemble School.
Theatre Confetti presents the Philadelphia premiere of Edith Can Shoot Things and Hit Them, a moving new play by A. Rey Pamatmat. Theatre Confetti, formerly known as Nice People Theatre Company, is led by co-artistic directors Nicole Paloux and Bi Jean Ngo. Three Stages at Folsom Lake College is honored to have the "deadpan brilliance" (New Yorker) of CAKE in the house for two shows. The excitement is mutual.
