The Kennedy Center Will Present METAMORPHOSIS, 2/20-22

The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts presents Franz Kafka's Metamorphosis by Icelandic theater collective Vesturport in collaboration with Lyric Hammersmith (U.K.). Directed and adapted by Gisli Örn Gardarsson and David Farr, the production runs in the Eisenhower Theater from February 20-22 as part of Nordic Cool 2013. Press opening night is February 20, 2013 at 7:30 p.m. The production will be performed in English.

WaterTower Theatre's 2013 Spotlight Gala will be held on Saturday, February 16, 2013 at the Addison Conference Center. The fundraising Gala is chaired by Barbara Daseke. The theme for this year's Gala is Blues in the Night and will feature entertaining blues and jazz music by Denise Lee, Cedric Neal, the Tu-Tones and the Briefcase Blues.

The Pittsburgh CLO Ambassadors hosted a Wine Tasting and Silent Auction preview party for sponsors and members of the press on January 29, at the Sheraton Station Square in Pittsburgh. The preview party was held to raise awareness for the Ambassadors' 16th Annual Wine Tasting and Silent Auction, which will take place Friday, March 1, 2013, at the Duquesne Club, and will feature wines from Capital Wine & Spirits.

The Museum of Modern Art announces Documentary Fortnight 2013: MoMA's International Festival of Nonfiction Film and Media, the 12th annual two-week showcase of recent documentary films examining the relationship between contemporary art and nonfiction practices, and reflecting on new areas of documentary filmmaking, from February 15 through March 4, 2013. This year's festival includes an International Selection of 21 feature-length films and 2 shorts, most of which are U.S. or New York premieres that will be presented by the filmmakers.

Tonequake Records (www.tonequake.com), an independent record label formed by noted producer, engineer and mixer Andrew Scheps (Red Hot Chili Peppers, Adele, U2) confirmed today that new records from both Austin band Act Rights and Swiss singer/songwriter Heidi Happy are confirmed for today and March 19 respectively. Both acts will be touring in support of their new records, performing at SXSW and in Heidi's case, appearing at Canadian Music Week this March and NXNE in June. Australia's hard rock band Twenty Two Hundred will also be dropping their debut album on Tonequake on February 19, 2013.

Signature Theatre has announced a one-week extension for the world premiere of OLD HATS, created and performed by Tony Award winners Bill Irwin and David Shiner, with music by and featuring Nellie McKay, and directed by Tina Landau. The production will now play through Sunday, April 7. The production will begin performances on February 12 and open on March 4 in The Irene Diamond Stage at The Pershing Square Signature Center (480 West 42nd Street between 9th and 10th Avenues). Tickets during the extension week are $75 each.

Performances are June 13 - June 15, 2013. This program is open to those students in grades 3-9, and is limited to 160 participants. Registration is $35.00, and includes a t-shirt.

The Bainbridge Symphony Orchestra has announced the 2013 winner of the BSO's 2013 Young Artist Competion - Marianne Martinoli, violin, age 15 from Monroe. Pianist Benjamin Salman of Seattle was awarded second place for his performance of the first movement of Beethoven's Piano Concerto No. 5 in E-flat major, "Emperor." The judges also announced two Honorable Mentions given to pianists Mya King, from Silverdale, for her performance of Albeniz' Concierto Fantastico, mvt 3, Allegro, and to Michael Lee, from Issaquah, for his performance of Liszt's Totentanz.
