Italian conductor Gianandrea Noseda makes his Walt Disney Concert Hall debut, leading the LA Phil in three performances, Thursday through Saturday, January 31 through February 2, at 8 pm. The all-Rachmaninoff evenings feature the composer's rarely heard Symphony No. 3 and 24-year-old French pianist Lise de la Salle playing his popular Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini. The Thursday and Saturday programs also include The Isle of the Dead.
The U.S. premiere of "Backbeat" opens this Wednesday, January 30 at 8 p.m. at the Center Theatre Group/Ahmanson Theatre. The dramatic new play with music about the birth of one of the greatest rock 'n' roll bands in history, the Beatles, continues through March 1, 2013. (Preview performances began on January 20.)

Norwegian violinist Vilde Frang will perform the Mozart Violin Concerto No. 5, "Turkish," in place of the previously scheduled Korngold Violin Concerto for her Atlanta Symphony Orchestra debut January 31 and February 2, 2013, at 8:00 p.m. in Atlanta Symphony Hall at the Woodruff Arts Center. The change is at the request of Ms. Frang due to a temporary physical condition.

Now this bond will be celebrated in the concert hall with Two x Four, a project created by violinist Jennifer Koh that she performs with her former teacher Jaime Laredo. Named for four works for two violins, the program includes Bach's Concerto for two violins, strings, and continuo in D Minor, BWV 1043, Philip Glass's Echorus, and two new double concertos commissioned for the project: David Ludwig's Seasons Lost and Anna Clyne's Prince of Clouds.

Seattle Opera today announced the company's 50th Anniversary Season. Performances of Wagner's Ring kick off the festivities this summer, followed by a subscription series of four operas. Starring singers beloved by the opera-goers of Seattle, the 2013/14 season offers subscribers a healthy variety of comedy and tragedy, reality and fantasy, in a mix of different musical styles and languages. New Amsterdam--a non-profit artist-services organization and record label dedicated to supporting the public's engagement with new music by composers and performers whose work grows from the fertile ground between genres--is honored to announce it has teamed up with the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra in a unique residency that will focus on the artistic exploration into many forms of music in a symphonic format. Over the next two years, the ISO will periodically showcase the sophisticated, adventurous sound of highly trained composers and instrumentalists of the New Amsterdam community. In addition, New Amsterdam will work with the Orchestra in developing educational activities and community outreach programs that will bring the open-minded ethos of New Am into direct engagement with the needs of the greater ISO community.
