New Jersey Playwright's Contest has selected Zoe Sarnak's A Lasting Impression as one of three 2013 finalists. The reading will feature Aaron Albert (Disney's "I'm in the Band"). The winner of this year's competition will receive a full production at the Hunziker Theatre in Summer of 2014.

The RVA Environmental Film Festival was founded in 2008 as "The Biggest Picture", Richmond's first environmental film festival. The Falls of the James Group, Sierra Club revived the event in 2011 as the RVA Environmental Film Festival. Today the mission of the festival is to bring entertaining and educational films that leave attendees with increased awareness of environmental problems faced locally as well as globally. This year's presenters of the RVA Environmental film festival include Falls of the James Group, Sierra Club, James River Green Building Council, Virginia Land Conservancy, and Enrichmond Foundation. Thanks to generous sponsorship there is no admission charge for the 2013 RVA Environmental Film Festival.

The Des Moines Community Playhouse is the home for Second Saturday, which will be held 7:30-10:00 PM, Saturday, Feb. 9. The Des Moines Community Playhouse presents 'The Mitten,' Friday, Feb. 15. This story is part of the 2012-13 season of Friday Funday, a creative participatory story theatre program for children ages 4-6. Performances are at the Playhouse, Friday, Feb. 15, at 9:30 and 10:30 AM, and 1:30 PM. Shows are approximately 45 minutes in length. Admission is $5 per person, adults and children. The First National Tour of THE BOOK OF MORMON, winner of nine Tony Awards, including Best Musical, will play a strictly limited nine-day, 11-performance engagement from Saturday, October 12 through Sunday, October 20, 2013 at the Orpheum Theater, 409 South 16th St., Omaha, Nebraska. The production will open the 2013/2014 Omaha Performing Arts. Broadway Series, the balance of which will be announced at a later date.

The Cincinnati Arts Association (CAA) will present the 2013 Overture Awards Scholarship Competition - the largest locally-run arts scholarship competition in the country. The Overture Awards annually provides a $3,000 scholarship to six area high school students for education and training expenses, with 18 finalists each winning a $500 scholarship.
