Award-winning Pipeline Theatre Company will present the World Premiere of CLOWN BAR by Adam Szymkowicz, with music & additional lyrics by Adam Overett. Staged in a Lower East Side 'dive' bar, this environmental production is directed by Andrew Neisler. Previews begin February 27 at Parkside Lounge with opening slated for Friday, March 8.

Philadelphia Theatre Company has announced that an agreement has been reached with IATSE Local 8, the union representing the stagehand employees. The agreement needs to be ratified by the union leadership and the Philadelphia Theatre Company board of directors.

Just in time for Valentine's Day, the Houston Symphony promises an evening of starry-eyed music in collaboration with guest conductor, Gilbert Varga and Norwegian violinist, Vilde Frang. Winner of the 1990 Tony Award for Best Musical, "City of Angels" is two shows in one. It is the interweaving of two plots, one dealing with the writing of a screenplay in the legendary Hollywood of the '40's; the other, the enactment of that screenplay. This double feature quality leads to many other unique production values, the most notable being the fact that "City of Angels" is perhaps the only "color coded" show any theatre audience is likely to see. The movie scenes appear in shades of black and white, and the real life scenes are in Technicolor. The show boasts two musical scores. One provides the cast with numbers to help reveal certain emotions or to celebrate particular moments in the way that only music can. The "other" score was written to emulate pure move soundtrack music, 1940's vintage. It is entirely appropriate, then, that the final curtain comes down on two happy endings.

The Jewish Museum is offering Movement Makers, a dance workshop and gallery tour on Sunday, February 17 at 10:30 am. Participants can explore creativity through movement with dancer Ashton McCullough, learning expressive techniques for putting the body in motion. This specially created program for children ages 8 to 12 is inspired by the Museum's current exhibition, Sharon Lockhart | Noa Eshkol.

Nationally recognized actor and vocalist Gia Mora (a four-time Helen Hayes Award nominee), in association with Jonathan White, has announced the world premiere of her new solo show, Einstein's Girl, at The Gardenia Restaurant and Lounge in Hollywood for one performance only, on Thursday, February 21, at 9pm. The Gardenia is located at 7066 Santa Monica Boulevard, just east of La Brea Avenue.

The New Theatre Project continues it's successful third season with a return to contemporary reworkings from the classical theater canon. "We spent many months last year searching through anthologies and old books looking for just the right play to take on," says Artistic Director Keith Paul Medelis. "Eventually we came to look at Edward II published in 1593. It is not frequently produced but there is magic in it." Edward the Second will play March 1-31.
