Walter Huff Named Adjunct Professor at Indiana University Jacobs School of MusicAugust 7, 2012Atlanta Opera Chorus Master, Walter Huff, will join the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music's faculty as Adjunct Associate Professor of Music (choral conducting) this fall. Along with his responsibilities at the Jacobs School, Huff will continue his duties as Atlanta Opera Chorus Master. Mr. Huff has been Chorus Master for The Atlanta Opera since 1988, and has prepared the chorus in more than 80 productions which have received critical acclaim in the United States and abroad.
NICE WORK IF YOU CAN GET IT's Judy Kaye to Sing the National Anthem at This Thursday's Mets GameAugust 7, 2012Two-time Tony Award winner Judy Kaye, currently starring in the Tony-winning hit musical comedy NICE WORK IF YOU CAN GET IT, will sing the national anthem at Citi Field on Thursday, August 9th for the New York Mets game against the Miami Marlins at 12 p.m. NICE WORK IF YOU CAN GET IT, featuring music and lyrics by George Gershwin and Ira Gershwin and a book by two-time Tony Award-winner Joe DiPietro, stars Matthew Broderick and four time Tony Award nominee Kelli O'Hara. The production is directed and choreographed by three-time Tony Award-winner Kathleen Marshall. The production is now playing at Broadway's Imperial Theatre (249 West 45th Street).

Additional Casting Announced for ANYTHING GOES at the AhmansonAugust 7, 2012Additional casting has been announced for the upcoming national tour of Roundabout Theatre Company's "Anything Goes," at the Center Theatre Group/Ahmanson Theatre in Los Angeles. The new Broadway revival of Cole Porter's timeless classic musical theatre masterpiece begins performances November 27, 2012, and continues through January 6, 2013. Opening is scheduled for November 28.
Geva Theatre Center Awarded $25,000 GrantAugust 7, 2012The National Endowment for the Arts in partnership with Arts Midwest has selected Geva Theatre Center as one of 42 professional theatre companies in the United States to participate in Shakespeare for a New Generation, bringing the finest productions of Shakespeare to middle and high school students. This is the 10th year of Shakespeare for a New Generation, and the first time that Geva has participated in the program.
Casting Complete for Menier Chocolate Factory's CHARLEY’S AUNTAugust 7, 2012Full casting is now complete for the Menier Chocolate Factory production of Brandon Thomas' comedy classic Charley's Aunt, directed by Ian Talbot and starring Mathew Horne, Jane Asher, Norman Pace and Steven Pacey. Written by Caleb Porter and Abe Burrows, the story revolves around 'the lovely Pistache, who owns the only café that features the sexy and provocative Can-Can. She spars with Aristide Forestier, a self-righteous judge, determined to close all Parisian dance halls. The show features the provocativly delightful Can-Can, the high-energy and physically demanding music hall dance which is a hybrid of the Polka and The Quadrille. First danced in circa 1822, it was outlawed for a number of years as immoral and prohibited by the police! How times have changed!'
Arena Stage's Voices of Now Program Heads to IndiaAugust 7, 2012Arena Stage at the Mead Center for American Theater's Community Engagement department has been selected to participate in a pilot program with the United States Department of State to set up theater education workshops in cities across India this fall. These workshops are based on theVoices of Now program, a drama program created 10 years ago at Arena Stage that offers young artists the unique opportunity to devise and perform a piece of theater based on their own writing. Four members of Arena Stage's Community Engagement department will leave October 8 for a two-and-a-half-week journey to four cities in India.
