The Atlanta Symphony Orchestra brings live music into the lives of its community, and the coming holiday season will be no different. From Pops to Gospel and Celtic Woman, to the family-favorite Kid's Christmas and traditional Messiah and "Christmas with the ASO," there is a live holiday music experience for everyone. Seven holiday programs will make up this year's 2012 Coca-Cola Holiday Concerts series, December 6-31, 2012.
Acclaimed jazz saxophonist Steve Wilson will headline a week at the legendary Village Vanguard in New York City, December 4th through 9th, 2012. Wilson will be joined by pianist Renee Rosnes and by bassist Peter Washington. The collaborative, co-led trio first performed together at Kitano in NYC, a two-night sold-out visit which Wilson fondly recalls as “one of the best musical experiences I've ever had.'

With rave reviews for Puccini's La boheme and Rossini's Italian Girl in Algiers to its credit, Houston Grand Opera's season is up and running. Starting in January, the company offers productions of Mozart's Don Giovanni and Kern and Hammerstein's classic American musical Show Boat, which bring with them the company debuts of conductor Trevor Pinnock, bass Morris Robinson, baritone Adrian Erod, Broadway legend Tommy Tune, and more. They will be followed in March by HGO's original and highly acclaimed production of Cruzar la Cara de la Luna / To Cross the Face of the Moon, a mariachi opera by Jose "Pepe" Martinez and Leonard Foglia. Tickets are on sale now and moving quickly for this winter repertory period, which accounts for 14 of the season's 44 performances, a 38 percent increase from an average of 32 performances in recent seasons. Premiere Stages has announced new dates for the production of Talking to Westfield, part of Liberty Live, a new producing partnership with the Liberty Hall Museum, located on the campus of Kean University. The Grand Theatre will present "A Diva Holiday" December 6-10. An original script, written by Robin Wilkes-Dunn, Kevin Mathie, and Eric Jensen includes Christmas songs played by an 8-piece orchestra, and family friendly fun. Cleveland Orchestra violist Lisa Boyko will introduce children ages 3-6 to "The Vivacious Viola" in PNC Musical Rainbow concerts, held in Severance Hall's Reinberger Chamber Hall. Viola students from El Sistema@Rainey will perform with Ms. Boyko during the program. There will be one performance on Friday, November 30, at 10 a.m., and two Saturday performances, Saturday, December 1, at 10 a.m. and Saturday, December 1, at 11 a.m. Local actress and singer Maryann Nagel hosts the 30-minute programs for young children, which include narration, demonstration, short solo selections, and audience participation.
