THE BOOK OF MORMON, winner of nine Tony Awards including Best Musical, is pleased to announce a lottery ticket policy for the National Tour, which begins November 27 at the SHN Curran Theatre in San Francisco and plays a limited 5 week engagement through December 30. In San Francisco, the production will conduct a pre-show lottery at the box office, making a limited number tickets available at $29 apiece.

Met Principal Conductor Fabio Luisi will lead his first company performances of Aida,Verdi's grand opera of love and war, beginning November 23. Ukrainian soprano Liudmyla Monastyrska makes her Met debut in the title role of the Ethiopian slave, opposite Marco Berti as Radames and Olga Borodina as Aida's formidable rival, Amneris. Later performances feature Hui He as Aida, Roberto Alagna as Radames, and Dolora Zajick as Amneris. The role of Amonasro, Aida's father, will be shared by Alberto Mastromarino and George Gagnidze. Štefan Kocan will sing the priest Ramfis, and Hungarian bass Miklos Sebestyen will make his Met debut as the King of Egypt. The December 15 matinee performance of Aida will be transmitted worldwide as part of The Met: Live in HD series, which now reaches more than 1,900 theaters in 64 countries around the world.

This holiday season, the Merchant's House Museum (NYC's "best-preserved" mid-19th century home) again time travels back 100 years to celebrate Christmas in the 1950s -- when the traditional American Christmas hit its mass-produced, post-War-prosperous peak. The halls will be retro-decked with an authentic tinsel tree trimmed with bubble lights and vintage ornaments; molded-plastic, lit-from-within Santas, Rudolphs, and Frostys; iconic Lefton "Holly" china and vintage holiday cooking paraphernalia; toys (Mr. Potato Head! Cooti! Slinky! Tinkertoys!), and Christmas cards.

Epic Megalopolis Productions (New York/Los Angeles) will produce a concert reading of Swedish pop band Brainpool's new rock opera JUNK on November 17th and 19th at the National Opera Center in New York City. JUNK will be the first rock opera presented in the new recital hall opened by Opera America earlier this year, a venue dedicated to supporting the creation, presentation, and enjoyment of opera.

The Joyce Theater Foundation announced today that it has successfully rescheduled Les Ballets Jazz de Montreal to return for four performances December 13 - 15, after its original Joyce engagement this season was canceled due to the power and transportation outages caused by Hurricane Sandy. As previously announced, the program will include new works by Spanish choreographer Cayetano Soto, former Batsheva resident choreographer Barak Marshall, and celebrated Chinese choreographer Wen Wei Wang.
