24/6: A Jewish Theater Company and New York's first one dedicated to Sabbath-observant artists, will present A DOLL HOUSE, a radically new adaptation of Henrik Ibsen's world-renowned play directed by Ibsen scholar Yoni Oppenheim. The production will play on March 16th at 7:30 pm, March 20th at 9:30 pm and March 23rd at 7:30 pm. at The Tank, 354 West 45th Street (between 8th and 9th). The Pasadena Playhouse (Sheldon Epps, Artistic Director and Stephen Eich, Executive Director) announced that a 10th anniversary presentation of GEORGE GERSHWIN ALONE, created by and starring Hershey Felder, will play a limited engagement at The Pasadena Playhouse. Performances will begin April 12, 2011, with the official press opening on Sunday, April 17, 2011. A global live radio broadcast of the production on the WFMT Radio Network will take place on May 2nd. The Playhouse will also present the popular Hershey Felder's Great American Songbook Sing-Along, which is scheduled for April 25 and May 9, 2011.

Massachusetts' Poetry Out Loud: National Recitation Contest reaches a record 19,000 students from schools in 78 towns in its sixth year. The Huntington Theatre Company facilitates the Massachusetts segment of the national contest that brings poetry into the classroom in a dynamic way, growing students' speaking skills and self-confidence. The Massachusetts Cultural Council and the Huntington sponsor the Massachusetts contest; the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) and the Poetry Foundation sponsor the competition on the national level.

Boston Afrofunk band The Macrotones will take the stage at Brooklyn's Spike Hill on Saturday, February 26th at 9:00 PM to host an Afrofunk dance party like the borough has never seen. While rooted in groove-fertile Afrobeat, the 10-strong Macrotones expand their sound with commanding horns and a drilling percussion section. Respectful of the Fela Kuti legacy, the Boston collective erupted out of a traditional Afrobeat ensemble in 2007, knowing there were new, heavier directions to push toward. With a low and chunky bari-tenor-trombone horn section up front, a slinky tectonic deep end behind, and grinding organ and edgy guitar popping off all around, the band's sonic layering serves as a musical tactician's manual. The Macrotones share the bill with Buru Style, The Flowdown (CD Release Show), MK Groove Orchestra and The Essex throughout the night. Admission is $6
