Ariel Dorfman, Kerry Kennedy, the Robert F. Kennedy Center for Justice and Human Rights, and The Public Theater (Artistic Director Oskar Eustis; Executive Director Andrew D. Hamingson) announced complete casting for the one-night-only benefit reading of Ariel Dorfman's play SPEAK TRUTH TO POWER: Voices From Beyond The Dark, adapted from Kerry Kennedy's book of the same name, on Monday, May 3 at 7 p.m. All proceeds from the reading will benefit the relief efforts of Habitat for Humanity in Chile.

According to published reports, former All My Sons star Katie Holmes will play Jacqueline Kennedy in a new television miniseries, 'The Kennedys' for the History Channel. The eight-hour miniseries - the first for the History Channel - will also star Greg Kinnear as John F. Kennedy. The series is written by Steve Kronish and directed by Jon Cassar, who collaborated on '24.' An air time is set for 2011.

People.com is reporting that Poison frontman and 'Celebrity Apprentice' contestant Bret Michaels has shown great signs of improvement today, as he began speaking, albeit slowly.

Boyd Gaines, Cheyenne Jackson, Martha Plimpton, Anna Gasteyer and Jesse L. Martin have joined the roster of stars who will serve as presenters at the 55th Annual Drama Desk Awards ceremony on Sunday, May 23, 2010 at the F.H. LaGuardia Concert Hall at Lincoln Center. Other presenters, previously announced, include Mitzi Gaynor, Michael Cerveris, Matthew Modine, Brooke Shields, Rosie Perez, Leslie Jordan and Corbin Bleu.

Angela Lansbury and Catherine Zeta-Jones, currently starring in the Broadway revival of A Little Night Music, led the all-star cast performing in Stephen Sondheim's 80th birthday celebration on April 26 at New York City Center. Like Lansbury and Zeta-Jones, all of the performers have either originated Sondheim characters or performed them in notable revivals. As a group, the gala's performers have appeared in more than 75 Sondheim shows. The gala, directed by Tony Award winner John Doyle, highlighted numbers from shows for which Sondheim has written both music and lyrics, and featured a full orchestra conducted by Encores! Music Director Rob Berman. The benefit will help fund New York City Center's artistic and education programs. Following in the footsteps of 'Buffy The Vampire Slayer' and 'Scrubs' the FOX sci-fi series 'Fringe' will air a musical episode April 29. The episode entitled 'Brown Betty' will feature Blair Brown and Michael Cerveris.

The American Film Institute and TV Land announced today that American film's finest performers Cher, Tom Hanks, Julia Roberts and Meryl Streep are among the many in the arts and entertainment community who are scheduled to appear when AFI honors beloved film, television and stage director Mike Nichols with the AFI Life Achievement Award. The gala will take place on Thursday, June 10th in the historic Stage 15 on the Sony Studios lot in Culver City, CA. 'TV Land Presents: The AFI Life Achievement Awards Honoring Mike Nichols' premieres on TV Land in June.

According to a report by ET Online, Poison frontman and 'Celebrity Apprentice' contestant Bret Michaels will soon be undergoing surgery to relieve swelling around his brain. A close friend of the family has revealed that Michaels' condition has been deteriorating following the massive hemorrhage he suffered last Thursday.

Kenny Leon's True Colors Theatre Company and Jujamcyn Theaters will present the fourth annual August Wilson Monologue Competition National finals Monday, May 3 at Broadway's August Wilson Theatre (245 W. 52nd Street). The finals will feature performances of monologues from August Wilson's Century Cycle by twelve regional finalists from Atlanta, Pittsburgh, Chicago and New York.

Creative Alternatives of New York (Dick Latessa, Chairman of the Board), celebrating the use of theater to help New York's most vulnerable children and adults, will honor Dr. Sandra Bloom, creator of the Sanctuary Model® of trauma informed care and the Co-Director of the Center for Non-Violence & Social Justice at Drexel University at this year's annual gala, Broadway at the Boathouse...Encore, to be held at Loeb Central Park Boathouse (at East 72nd Street entrance) on May 17, 2010. As previously reported, multiple Emmy Award winning legend Betty White will host NBC's Saturday Night Live on May 8. White will make her first appearance in Studio 8H.
