David Mamet's RACE Recoups on BroadwayApril 21, 2010To celebrate the arrival of spring, RACE will take over Times Square on Wednesday, March 24, 2010 from 11 am - 1 pm and will have nearly two dozen women wear red sequined dresses for the public. This event will also celebrate the fact that RACE is currently the longest-running play of this Broadway season. The women will be coming from all over the city to wear the show's famous red sequined dress, a major plot point in the play.

Menzel Set for 4 Additional GLEE AppearancesApril 21, 2010According to her official website, Idina Menzel will be making four additional appearances on GLEE after her current stint is up. In this second installment of GLEE's first season, Menzel plays Shelby, coach of rival glee club Vocal Adrenaline. As previously reported, Menzel had been contracted to appear in episodes airing May 18, May 25, June 1 and June 8. She has appeared on the first two premiere episodes, as well. Michael Jackson Estate Signs Deal with Cirque du Solei for Two ShowsApril 20, 2010TMZ.com has just revealed that the executors managing Michael Jackson's estate have concluded a deal with Cirque du Soleil for the creation of a Jackson-themed spectacular. Co-executor of the Jackson estate John Branca has reportedly told TMZ that the first production will open in late 2010 and embark on a North American tour thereafter, with stops in most major cities, including Los Angeles at the Staples Center.
O'Neil Center Names 2010 NPC Selections; Uhry et al. Named Playwrights in ResidenceApril 19, 2010The Eugene O'Neill Theater Center announced today that seven plays will be developed at the 2010 National Playwrights Conference under the leadership of artistic director Wendy C. Goldberg. The selected playwrights will spend the month of July at the O'Neill's Waterford, Connecticut campus developing and presenting staged readings of their work during the NPC's 46th season. Box office and online ticket sales open Wednesday, June 9; advance ticket sales will be available to O'Neill Members beginning Monday, May 17.

According to the report, only two scores from original musicals that opened on Broadway this season may be eligible for nomination, despite the 4 available slots in the category. MEMPHIS and THE ADDAMS FAMILY will be eligible, however shows such as FELA! and AMERICAN IDIOT will likely not qualify.
