Jessica Lewis Jessica has worked in theater for nearly ten years. She has worked in theatrical production for the producers of STOMP, DAMN YANKEES, NUNSENSE, DINNER WITH FRIENDS and more, and for over 5 years has been involved in the Whoopi Goldberg-produced White Noise, having discovered the production at the 2006 New York Musical Theatre Festival. She has since helped foster its growth through multiple large-scale workshops and two major commercial productions as an Associate Producer. After dedicating many years to theatrical and live entertainment production work that has taken her all over the world in 2009 she assumed the post of Senior Managing Editor at BroadwayWorld.com, the largest theater site on the net, for which she controls operations, routinely interviews Broadway's A-list talent and films/edits a bulk of the sites popular BWW TV content. She is a graduate of Brown University and has worked professionally in production for the Brown University Department of Theatre, Speech and Dance, Rights and Reasons Theatre, the New York Theatre Workshop and more.

Variety reports today that John Guare's FREE MAN OF COLOR, which will premiere at Lincoln Center next season, is the recipient of a $100,000 grant from National Actors Theater Foundation. The Tony Randall Theatrical Fund has granted Lincoln Center an additiona, undisclosed amount of money to help support it's production of non-profit shows. Both organizations are run by late actor Tony Randall's daughter, Heather.

Lionel Larner, Executive Director of The Dorothy Loudon Foundation, has announced that the 2009-2010 recipient of its Dorothy Loudon Starbaby Award for a Broadway or Off-Broadway performance will go to Bobby Steggert for his outstanding performances, as it turns out both on Broadway and Off-Broadway, in Ragtime and Yank! The award will be presented at this year's 66th Annual Theatre World Awards (in an invitation-only ceremony) at New World Stages on Tuesday, June 8.

Al Pacino Brings 'Lear' to the Silver Screen

Th U.K.'s Screen Daily is reporting that Al Pacino will portray King Lear in a new film adaptation directed by Michael Radford. The two have previously collaborated on the film version of The Merchant of Venice (Pacino will deliver a second rendition of his Shylock live in Merchant for Shakespeare in the Park this summer). The film will begin filming in the U.K. in 2011.

Shakespeare on the Sound, Connecticut's premier outdoor summer theater company presenting free Shakespeare in the park, today announced that Obie award winning composer Heidi Rodewald will join forces with her writing partner Stew to compose the original music and songs that will be a part of the company's upcoming production of Othello, under the direction of Joanna Settle. Rodewald and Stew are perhaps best known for co-writing the musical Passing Strange, for which Stew won the Tony for Best Book of a Musical and which was nominated for seven Tony Awards and won the New York Drama Critics' Circle Award for Best Musical and the 2008 Obie Award for Best New American Theater Piece. Currently in its 15th Season, Shakespeare on the Sound will present Settle's all-new production at two beautiful locations on Long Island Sound. The show will play Pinkney Park, Rowayton June 15 - 26, 2010 and Baldwin Park, Greenwich July 2 - 11, 2010.

The Broadway hit ROCK OF AGES paid tribute to the life of rock legend Ronnie James Dio at the Tuesday, May 18th performance. The former lead singer of Black Sabbath, who died this past Sunday, is the man credited with inventing the enduring symbol of heavy metal, the 'Devil's horns' hand gesture. As the show began, the entire audience raised their hands in that familiar symbol in remembrance of the rock icon who now resides in heavy metal heaven.
