Just yesterday the company of The Phantom of the Opera reached another milestone! The musical became the first and only show in Broadway history to celebrate reaching 12,000 Performances.  BroadwayWorld was on hand for the special day and you can check out photos below!

Broadway Dreams just held its annual Night of Dreams Gala, honoring Tony Award-winning lyricist and composer Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty with the inaugural Arts Advancement Award. Point Park University was the leading education sponsor of the event.

The Apollo Theater will soon present The Classical Theatre of Harlem's production of THE FIRST NOEL from December 10-18, 2016. Following its world premiere in 2015 on the Theater's soundstage, the Harlem-based holiday musical makes an unprecedented move to the Apollo's mainstage this year, as part of the institution's "Holidays at the Apollo" programming.

Just last night, Todrick Hall officially joined the Broadway company of Kinky Boots as 'Lola' in the Tony Award-winning musical, where he remains through March 5, 2017. Hall, an internationally known YouTube personality and Broadway actor who just finished a sold-out national tour of his show Straight Outta Oz, succeeds the Award-winning Alan Mingo, Jr. in Kinky Boots, now in its 4th smash year at the Al Hirschfeld Theatre (302 West 45th Street).

THE UNTOLD STORIES OF BROADWAY, VOLUME 3 from DRESS CIRCLE PUBLISHING - the latest in a series by acclaimed historian and producer JENNIFER ASHLEY TEPPER - is released today, November 15 at www.dresscirclepublishing.com.

Theatre Communications Group (TCG) just honored playwright and actress Danai Gurira, producers Stephen C. Byrd and Alia Jones-Harvey, and the Vilcek Foundation and Rick Kinsel at their gala, last night at New York's Edison Ballroom (240 West 47th Street).

Due to popular demand, the Signature Theatre production of The Death of the Last Black Man in the Whole Entire World AKA the Negro Book of the Dead, by Pulitzer Prize-winner Suzan-Lori Parks and directed by Lileana Blain-Cruz, has been extended an additional week. The production will now run through December 18, 2016 at The Alice Griffin Jewel Box Theatre at The Pershing Square Signature Center (480 West 42nd Street between 9th and 10th Avenues). 

Just last night, the 33rd Annual Drama League Centennial Musical Celebration of Broadway honored Tony and Emmy Award winner David Hyde Pierce at The Plaza (768 Fifth Avenue) in New York City.

Irish Repertory Theatre presents FINIAN'S RAINBOW, directed and adapted by Charlotte Moore (Da), at Irish Rep Theatre (132 West 22nd Street) on the Francis J. Greenburger Mainstage. SWEAT, a new play by Lynn Nottage directed by Kate Whoriskey, just opened last night and is running through Sunday, December 4 at The Public Theater. 

Second Stage Theatre's New York Premiere production of NOTES FROM THE FIELD: DOING TIME IN EDUCATION, the latest work created, written and performed by groundbreaking theatre artist Anna Deavere Smith with music composed and performed by Marcus Shelby and directed by Leonard Foglia, opened just last night, November 2, 2016 at the Tony Kiser Theatre (305 West 43rd Street). 

Earlier today, His Eminence Timothy Cardinal Dolan and the Radio City Rockettes welcomed the camels, sheep and donkey back to Radio City Music Hall for their starring role in the "Living Nativity" scene in the 2016 production of the Christmas Spectacular Starring the Radio City Rockettes.

Vietgone, the new play by Qui Nguyen (She Kills Monsters), directed by May Adrales (Luce) just opened last night at MTC at New York City Center - Stage I (131 West 55th Street). 

Just last night, Jordan Harrison (Marjorie Prime) and Zayd Dohrn (The Profane) were presented with the 2016 Horton Foote Prize for Outstanding New American Play and Promising New American Play, respectively. BroadwayWorld was there for the big night and you can check out photos below!

Playwrights Horizons will soon presnt Rancho Viejo, the world premiere of a new play by Dan LeFranc (The Big Meal at Playwrights, Sixty Miles to Silver Lake, In the Labyrinth) and directed by three-time Obie Award winner Daniel Aukin (Placebo, This at Playwrights; Fool For Love; Bad Jews; 4000 Miles; [sic]). Commissioned by Playwrights Horizons, Rancho Viejo will be the third production of the theater company's 2016/2017 Season.

Stars from Broadway's Hamilton, Wicked, Rent, The Book of Mormon, Chicago, Allegiance, Godspell, Sweet Charity, A Chorus Line, and some surprise celebrity special guests united last night for the first annual all-star benefit concert BROADWAY SNIFFS OUT CANCER. The show was presented at Joe's Pub at The Public Theater to raise money to train our canine friends to save lives, as well as honoring of the loved ones we've lost to cancer.
