The Tony Award winning production of the new musical Bandstand, directed and choreographed by Tony Award winner Andy Blankenbuehler (Hamilton) and featuring music by Richard Oberacker and a book and lyrics by Robert Taylor and Richard Oberacker, celebrated 100 performances on Broadway at the matinee performance just yesterday, Wednesday, July 26. The Public Theater presents HAMLET, featuring Golden Globe Award winner Oscar Isaac as the tormented Danish Prince. Directed by Tony Award winner Sam Gold, HAMLET runs through Sunday, September 3 in the Anspacher Theater, with an official press opening last night, July 13.

Okieriete 'Oak' Onaodowan, best known for originating the roles of Hercules Mulligan and James Madison in Hamilton, has officially joined the cast of the new Broadway musical NATASHA, PIERRE & THE GREAT COMET OF 1812 as 'Pierre' beginning last night, July 11th, 2017.

Tasha Lawrence, Morocco Omari, Karen Pittman, Namir Smallwood, Jaime Lincoln Smith, and Heather Velazquez are featured in Lincoln Center Theater's production of Pipeline, a new play by Dominique Morisseau, directed by Lileana Blain-Cruz, which opened just last night, July 10, at the Mitzi E. Newhouse Theater (150 West 65 Street). 

Multi-platinum recording artist Ingrid Michaelson has joined the cast of Broadway's Tony Award-winning musical NATASHA, PIERRE & THE GREAT COMET OF 1812 as Sonya. Michaelson will be performing the role from July 3 to August 15, while Brittain Ashford, who originated the role of 'Sonya' takes a temporary leave from the show. Ashford will return to THE GREAT COMET on August 16. Ingrid Michaelson will not be performing August 2 through August 6.

Roundabout Theatre Company presents the Broadway premiere of Marvin's Room by Scott McPherson directed by Obie Award winner Anne Kauffman, which opened just last night, June 29, 2017.

Between Joe's Diner and Mrs. Lovett's Pie Shop, theatre-goers are getting pie in abundance this season at the Brooks Atkinson and Barrow Street Theatres. Just yesterday, two of the theatre community's most beloved pie makers -Jenna Hunterson and Mrs. Nellie Lovett (played by Betsy Wolfe and Carolee Carmello) met and BroadwayWorld was there!

Roundabout Theatre Company's production of Roundabout Underground alumni playwright Meghan Kennedy's (Too Much, Too Much, Too Many) new play Napoli, Brooklyn, commissioned by Roundabout, directed by Gordon Edelstein, opened officially last night, June 27, 2017 at the Laura Pels Theatre at the Harold and Miriam Steinberg Center for Theatre (111 W 46th Street). This is a limited engagement Off-Broadway through September 3, 2017.

Now in its fourteenth year, the 2017 New York Musical Festival will take place July 10th through August 6th at The Acorn Theatre at Theatre Row, The Peter Jay Sharp Theater, Playwrights Horizons Rehearsal Studio, The Green Room 42 @ YOTEL, and The Castillo Theatre in New York City. Actors' Equity Association just presented Natasha, Pierre and the Great Comet of 1812 with the ninth annual "ACCA" Award for Outstanding Broadway Chorus. Presented by Equity's Advisory Committee on Chorus Affairs (ACCA), the ACCA Award is the only industry accolade of its kind to honor the distinctive talents and contributions made by the original chorus members of a Broadway musical.

Spamilton, the comedic musical take on all things Hamilton and Broadway, opened last night at its new home at the 47th Street Theater/The Puerto Rican Traveling Theater. The new theater on 47th Street, which is just a block from its inspiration and main punchline, hosts the show for an open engagement.

Manhattan Theatre Club's New York premiere of Cost of Living, the new play by Martyna Majok (Ironbound, Mouse in a Jar), directed by Jo Bonney (Father Comes Home from the Wars; By the Way, Meet Vera Stark), opened just last night, Wednesday, June 7, at MTC at New York City Center - Stage I (131 West 55th Street). 

Just last night, The Public Theater celebrated its Annual Gala, HAIR TO HAMILTON, 50 Years of Revolutionary Musicals, at the Delacorte Theater. Directed by Daniel Sullivan, with musical direction by Rob Fisher and Nadia DiGiallonardo, the 90-minute concert featured songs from The Public's most beloved and groundbreaking musicals performed by some of the most celebrated voices in theater. 

William Finn and James Lapine's musical FALSETTOS will soon air as part of PBS' 'Live From Lincoln Center.' The company of the five-time Tony nominated revival gathered yesterday for a special industry screeening and BroadwayWorld was on hand for the special day. Check out photos below!
