El Complejo Teatral de Buenos Aires y la Fundación Cinemateca Argentina han organizado un ciclo denominado Seijun Suzuki X 6, que se llevará a cabo del jueves 17 hasta el martes 22 de noviembre, en Sala Leopoldo Lugones del Teatro San Martín (Avenida Corrientes 1530). La muestra estará integrada por seis films inéditos en Argentina, que vienen a demostrar por qué Suzuki se convirtió en un director de culto, reconocido internacionalmente por la manera en que subvirtió desde adentro al rígido sistema de estudios del cine japonés, cuestionando los estereotipos y utilizando los géneros como campos de experimentación visual.

The New York Pops orchestra, under the baton of Music Director Steven Reineke, celebrates the holidays with swinging seasonal favorites on December 16 and 17, 2011 at 8:00pm. Reineke has been heralded by The New York Times as 'young and vigorous, with a playful attitude that has been a pops orchestral tradition since the heyday of Arthur Fiedler...a polished, welcoming host.' John Pizzarelli and Jessica Molaskey, the couple The New York Times called 'a musical match made in heaven,' will perform with the orchestra in a program featuring festive holiday tunes such as 'We Need a Little Christmas', 'It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year', 'Go Tell It On the Mountain', 'Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy', 'I've Got My Love to Keep Me Warm' and 'Little Bolero Boy'. Essential Voices USA, conducted by Judith Cluman, will also join The New York Pops in the festive concert at Carnegie Hall's Stern Auditorium/Perelman Stage.

Actors' Shakespeare Project (ASP) continues its 8th season - Laughter, Loss & Longing ? with one of Shakespeare's later comedies, The Merry Wives of Windsor, directed by ASP resident acting company member Steven Barkhimer. The play previews on December 7th, 8th & 9th, and opens on Saturday, December 10th at 8:00pm at the newly opened Davis Square Theatre (formerly Jimmy Tingle's), 255 Elm Street, right in the heart of Davis Square in Somerville. For this production we hope to be long on the 'laughter' part of our theme and, the holidays and Davis Square are a perfect match for the escapades of the Merry Wives. 'It's the time of year when we should be laughing off the crap we have to go through the rest of the year,' Artistic Director Allyn Burrows said. 'And what better place to perform but in the space once operated by the hilarious comedian Jimmy Tingle.'

Bright green waves of laser light will ripple across the Hayden Sphere in the American Museum of Natural History's Rose Center for Earth and Space starting Monday, November 14, to illustrate how the Hubble Space Telescope analyzes distant galaxies, quasars, and other celestial objects in the early universe. The public art installation, From the Distant Past, will pulse from 5 to 11 pm every day until Sunday, November 27, showcasing a unique convergence of science and art. The installation is presented in conjunction with the exhibition Beyond Planet Earth: The Future of Space Exploration, which opens to the public on Saturday, November 19.

ZOMBIE, the film based on Joyce Carol Oates' award-winning novella, continues on a roll. After winning 'Best Short Film (Horror)' at the Washington DC International Film Festival, the psychological horror film has won 'Best Short Dramatic Screenplay' for Bill Connington, and 'Best Supporting Actor' for Kelley Van Dilla. The psychological thriller was also nominated for 'Best Actor,' 'Best Director,' and 'Best Short Dramatic Film' at the Terror Film Festival, which was held on prestigious Rittenhouse Square in central Philadelphia.
