Pressure is on as the finalists perform live for the judges, a studio audience, and the viewers at home. Who will prove they deserve to take it all? Who will choke so close to the finish line? In partnership, Meijer and the Purple Rose Theatre Company will open the world of Shakespeare to young people in a two-week after school program at Chelsea Beach Middle School. Supported by a grant from Meijer, professional actors from the Purple Rose will use games, readings,writing exercises, improvisation and various acting techniques to bring the written word to life. 'Playing With Shakespeare' will make the Bard's work personal and relevant to middle school students, deepen their appreciation for the rich stories and characters, and give them a taste of how professional actors approach the text.

The year was 1761. And although the area was virtually unsettled at the time, papers were signed that gave birth to the town of Middlebury, Vermont. Local celebrations of this historic event will culminate in a party at Town Hall Theater on November 4 - 250 years, to the day, after the signing of the town charter. Doors open at 5:00 pm so people can view the special history quilt created by students from Mary Hogan School. The presentation begins at 5:30 pm, with Ken Perine as the emcee.

Der Kosmos des Romantischen Balletts, als dessen Initialwerk die 1832 in Paris uraufgeführte Sylphide anzusehen ist, bezieht seine fortdauernde Gültigkeit aus der Tatsache, für den aufgegriffenen Inhalt ein adäquates tänzerisches Mittel - den Spitzentanz - gefunden zu haben. Das Ballett erzählt von einem Wesen aus einer anderen Welt, dessen Versuch, mit einem Sterblichen eine Verbindung einzugehen, tödlich endet. La Sylphide und seine Schöpfer - Filippo Taglioni als Choreograph und seine Tochter Marie als Sylphide - vermochten mit ihrem Ballett die Grundstimmung der Romantik idealtypisch auf die Bühne zu stellen. Dem leidenschaftlichen Engagement Pierre Lacottes für das Romantische Ballett ist die Wiederbelebung des Pariser Originals dieses Werks zu danken.
