Manhattan Association of Cabarets and Clubs (MAC), dedicated to advancing the art and business of live entertainment, held their 28th Annual MAC Awards celebration last evening at BB King's Blues club in Times Square. Winners in twenty-five categories were announced. The show was hosted by the vivacious singer, band leader, multiple MAC Award winner and 2014 Nominee, Terese Genecco. The gala was produced by Julie Miller and directed by Lennie Watts, the current MAC President. Don Rebic served as Musical Director. In collaboration with the NYC Department of Education's Borough-Wide Band and Orchestra program, KIDS ON STAGE allows middleschool students the opportunity to experience the professional performance process from the first audition to the final note. This year's finalists included: Sophia Atlas-Ruggirello, Isabel Bruschi, Kaitlyn Cao, Matthew Cuji, Marvin Carter, Zachary Davis, Melissa Dookie, Olivi Dul, John Fabrizio, Christopher Ferdinand, Magdalena Garandza, Chelsea Jordan, Miles Keingstei, Justin Laurenceau, Christopher Rush, Joshua Sipson, Liuxi Sun, David Valderrama, Jason Whitelaw and Margaret Wu.

Gingold Theatrical Group, under the leadership of David Staller, honored philanthropist Anita Jaffe and playwright/actor Charles Busch at its Annual Golden Shamrock Gala, earlier this week at Manhattan Penthouse (80 Fifth Ave at 14th Street). The GTG Golden Shamrock Award is given annually for artistic contribution to society. Past honorees include Terrence McNally, Judith Ivey, Brian Murray, and Robert Osborne. The Pearl Theatre Company continues its 30th anniversary season-the second season in its new home on West 42nd Street-with a new production of No Exit by Jean-Paul Sartre, adapted from the French by Paul Bowles. Linda Ames Key, making her Pearl debut, directs this touchstone of French existentialism in its first Off-Broadway production in over 15 years. The cast includes Pearl Resident Acting Company(RAC) member Jolly Abraham as Inez and Pearl RAC member Branford Cover as Cradeau along with Sameerah Luqmaan-Harris as Estelle and Pete McGilligot as Valet. The York Theatre Company concludes the Winter 2014 Musicals in Mufti Series Celebrating Sheldon Harnick with the 1960 musical, Tenderloin, that has Book by George Abbott and Jerome Weidman, Music by Jerry Bock, and Lyrics by Sheldon Harnick. Just last night, Tovah Feldshuh hosted the Theatre Development Fund's (TDF) 2014 Gala, which celebrated the 35th season of TDF's Accessibility Programs (TAP). TAP are TDF's services for people with physical disabilities, as well as individuals on the autism spectrum. Paper Mill Playhouse continues its 75th Anniversary Season with another new musical The Other Josh Cohen. The Other Josh Cohen features a book, music and lyrics by David Rossmer and Steve Rosen. Ted Sperling (Striking 12, See What I Wanna See) will direct with musical staging by Andrew Palermo. Vadim Feichtner serves as Music Director. The Other Josh Cohen will feature Steve Rosen, David Rossmer, Hannah Elless, Vadim Feichtner, Cathryn Salamone, Ken Triwush and Kate Wetherhead. The Other Josh Cohen will play the Millburn, New Jersey theater through March 16. The show officially opened last night, Sunday, February 23, 2014, at 7:00pm.
