Camp Broadway's Original Summer Program for theater-loving kids, ages 10-17, began earlier this week and continued through July 18, 2014. The week-long program immerses campers in an authentic Broadway rehearsal process that culminated in a Family Finale presentation yesterday. Inspired by Broadway's cherished works and steeped in its grand traditions, Camp Broadway is designed to build confidence, inspire creative expression, and instill well-being in both aspiring artists and future audiences.

Camp Broadway's Original Summer Program for theater-loving kids, ages 10-17, began earlier this week and continues through today July 18, 2014. The week-long program will immerse campers in an authentic Broadway rehearsal process that culminates in a Family Finale presentation on Friday, July 18. Inspired by Broadway's cherished works and steeped in its grand traditions, Camp Broadway is designed to build confidence, inspire creative expression, and instill well-being in both aspiring artists and future audiences. This week's event featured performances from the casts of PIPPIN (Ciara Renee with Sam Lips, Nicolas Jelmoni and Charlotte O'Sullivan), CHICAGO (Bianca Marroquin, Amra-Faye Wright, Carol Woods, David Bushman and Nathan Madden), LES MISERABLES (Nikki M. James, Adam Monley and Betsy Morgan), and ATOMIC (David Abeles, Sara Gettelfinger, Jonathon Hammond, Randy Harrison, Jeremy Kushnier, James David Larson, and Grace Stockdale).

Primary Stages (Casey Childs, Founder & Executive Producer; Andrew Leynse, Artistic Director; Elliot Fox, Managing Director) in association with Jamie deRoy and Barry Feirstein, present Poor Behavior, a new comedy by Theresa Rebeck (Seminar, Mauritius, The Understudy, creator of NBC's "Smash"). Evan Cabnet (The Model Apartment, A Kid Like Jake) will direct the company featuring Heidi Armbruster (Disgraced, My Man is a Loser), Brian Avers (The Explorers Club, The Lieutenant of Inishmore), Jeff Biehl (Machinal, Master Builder), and Katie Kreisler (Nikolai and the Others, The House of Blue Leaves). The Kleban Foundation's 24th annual Kleban Prize for the most promising musical theatre lyricist has been awarded to Nathan Tysen and the 24th annual Kleban Prize for the most promising musical theatre librettist has been awarded to Arthur Perlman.The 2014 prizes were presented last night, June 23, 2014, in a private ceremony (by invitation only) hosted by ASCAP and BMI. This one-night-only event will feature Grammy Award-winning 1920s and 30s musical interpreters Vince Giordano and The Nighthawks (HBO's 'Boardwalk Empire,' Woody Allen's Radio Days, and Martin Scorsese's The Aviator), as well as special guest stars including acclaimed soprano Amy Burton (The Metropolitan Opera, City Opera, Carnegie Hall), Tony Award nominee Anita Gillette (Chapter Two, They're Playing Our Song, Brighton Beach Memoirs), Jason Graae (Falsettos, A Grand Night for Singing), Ted Levy(Jelly's Last Jam, Black and Blue), Grammy-winning jazz and blues vocalistCatherine Russell (featured on soundtracks for HBO's 'Boardwalk Empire' and the film Kill Your Darlings), and two-time Tony nominee Tom Wopat (Catch Me If You Can, Annie Get Your Gun, Sondheim on Sondheim).
