The York Theatre Company continues the Winter 2014 Musicals in Mufti Series Celebrating Sheldon Harnick with Smiling, The Boy Fell Dead with Book by Ira Wallach, Music by David Baker, and Lyrics by Sheldon Harnick. The creative team includes director James Glossman with music direction by Joseph Baker, and casting by Geoff Josselson. The limited engagement will play 5 performances ONLY February 21-23, 2014 at The York Theatre Company at Saint Peter's (Entrance on East 54th Street, just east of Lexington Avenue). John W. Engeman Theater presents OTHER DESERT CITIES, the funny, gripping and ultimately satisfying play about family secrets brought to light from Jon Robin Baitz (creator of TV's Brothers & Sisters), which was a finalist for the 2012 Pulitzer Prize for Drama. Previews began on Thursday, January 23rd at 8:00 p.m. while the official opening was last night, Saturday, January 25th at 8:00 p.m., the production runs through March 9, 2014. Directed by Robert Brink, and with Music Direction by Jeff Saver, the four-member cast features Kerry Conte, Jason Graae, Rhyn McLemore and Aaron Serotsky. On December 21 at 2:00PM in Stern Auditorium/Perelman Stage, Carnegie Hall's Weill Music Institute presented A Charlie Brown Christmas in a special holiday Family Concert with The New York Pops and Music Director Steven Reineke. The staged concert version of Charles M. Schulz's iconic television special brought the beloved Peanuts characters to life through special choreography performed by dancers from New York Theatre Ballet and child actors from TADA! Youth Theater. Tony Award nominee John Tartaglia (Avenue Q, Sesame Street) narrates the heart-warming story, underscored by the music of Vince Guaraldi, performed by The New York Pops and Judith Clurman's Essential Voices USA. 54 BELOW, Broadway's Supper Club, just featured Tony nominee Euan Morton, who made his debut at the acclaimed Manhattan nightspot last night, December 12th. Backed by Grandpa Musselman & His Syncopators, Morton, performed repertoire of turn of the century ragtime, 1920's jazz and depression era swing by composers such as Scott Joplin, Jelly Roll Morton and Duke Ellington. Paper Mill Playhouse continues its 75th Anniversary Season with the classic Charles Dickens musical Oliver!, with a holiday 'twist' for the entire family. With a book, music and lyrics by Lionel Bart, Oliver! is directed by Paper Mill Playhouse Producing Artistic Director Mark S. Hoebee with original choreography by JoAnn M. Hunter. Oliver! features David Garrison (Fagin), best known for his role as Steve Rhoades on the hit television series Married...with Children, Betsy Morgan (Nancy), John Treacy Egan (Mr. Bumble), Jose Llana (Bill Sikes), David Hess (MR. Brownlow), Ethan Haberfield (Artful Dodger) and introducing Tyler Moran as Oliver. Oliver! also features 16 local boys from across the state of New Jersey who auditioned from a pool of over 200. Oliver! plays the Millburn, New Jersey theater through December 29. The official press opening was last night, December 1, 2013, and BroadwayWorld was there for the festivities. Vukovic (a recent Brown/Trinity grad) as Marchbanks, Alison Cimmet (The Mystery of Edwin Drood) as Prossy, Bill Kux (The Trip to Bountiful) as Burgess, Jordan Coughtry (Shakespeare Theatre of NJ Our Town) as Lexy.
