Various reports have indicated the sad news that American conductor and musical theatre archivist John McGlinn passed away today, Saturday February 14th, 2009.

Melora Hardin, star of the hit NBC comedy 'The Office,' made her Broadway stage debut this winter as fame-hungry murderess Roxie Hart in the Tony Award-winning smash hit musical CHICAGO. Hardin played a seven-week limited engagement which began Monday, December 29, 2008 at Broadway's Ambassador Theatre (219 W. 49th St.). Melora Hardin performed her final show as 'Roxie' on on Thursday, February 12th and BroadwayWorld was there to cheer her on as she 'Razzle Dazzled' the crowd one last time!

OpenStage Theatre presents The Book of Liz at 8 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays from Feb. 21 to March 21, with a Thursday performance at 7:30 p.m. March 19 and two Sunday matinees at 2 p.m. on March 8 and March 15. East West Players (EWP), the nation's premier Asian American theatre, celebrates its 43rdAnniversary with its glamorous Visionary Awards Dinner & Silent Auction, which salutes those who have raised the visibility of the Asian Pacific American (APA) community through their artistic excellence and support of Asian Pacific American performing arts. The award winning event will take place at the Hilton Universal City on Monday, April 27, 2009. Proceeds from the event will benefit East West Players' educational and artistic programs.

The Theater Project, Union County College's Professional Theater Company, will continue its winter 2009 season of Opening Nights on Saturday Afternoons, with two one-act plays by Ed Shakespeare on February 21 at 3 pm.

Passage Theatre Company, Trenton's premiere professional theater company, will present a nw play workshop staged-reading of Blood: A Comedy by David White for three performances on February 19, 20 and 21 at 8:00 p.m. at Trenton's historic Mill Hill Playhouse (Front and Montgomery Streets). The 2008-2009 Reprise Theatre Company season continues with the classic international hit 'Man of La Mancha,' starring Brent Spiner as Cervantes/Quixote. Julia Migenes, the renowned opera and theatre performer, will play Aldonza/Dulcinea; Valerie Perri will play the role of Aldonza/Dulcinea at matinee performances; and Tony nominee Lee Wilkof will play Sancho Panza. 'Man of La Mancha' is written by Dale Wasserman with music by Mitch Leigh and lyrics by Joe Darion. The production will be directed by Michael Michetti, co-artistic director of The Theatre at Boston Court. 'La Mancha' will play at the Freud Playhouse from February 14-March 1 (press opening February 15).

EQUUS concluded its 22-week engagement as scheduled on Broadway on February 8th, 2009. The play opened in September 2008 at the Broadhurst Theatre, marking the Broadway debut of Daniel Radcliffe. Mr. Radcliffe starred in the revival of Peter Shaffer's play opposite Tony Award winner Richard Griffiths ('The History Boys'). The big question was always 'who'll replace Daniel on Broadway?'

The Senate and House of Representatives are set to vote on final passage of the economic stimulus legislation - H.R.1, the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act - which includes $50 million for the National Endowment for the Arts.

Sienna Miller has been named ShoWest Supporting Actress of the Year, it was announced today by Mitch Neuhauser, co-managing director of the event, which will be held March 30-April 2, 2009, in Las Vegas. Miller will be presented with the ShoWest Supporting Actress of the Year Award at ShoWest's Final Night Banquet and Award Ceremony on Thursday, April 2nd, at Bally's and Paris Las Vegas.
