URBAN RESEARCH THEATER presents the world premiere of PLAY/WAR, an explosive journey through intimacy, violence, and liberation. The performance explores the intermingling of play and war through an encounter between two nameless men, one in army camouflage and the other wearing a business suit. Over the course of the hour-long performance, the relationship of these two men passes through aggressive confrontation, childhood innocence, erotic potential, and more. PLAY/WAR explores contemporary masculinity through original dialogue, choreography, and songs ranging in style from traditional folk and sacred music to hip-hop.

Jorgensen Theatre (Lower Jorgensen). The preview performance takes place on May 27 at 7:30 p.m. , and Opening Night is May 28 at 8 p.m.

Lookingglass Theatre Company proudly announces the return of its circus-inspired theatrical events Lookingglass Alice, adapted and directed by Ensemble Member David Catlin. Alice Ripley, who received the 2009 Tony Award for Best Actress in a Musical for her performance in the Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award-winning NEXT TO NORMAL, will play her final Broadway performance on Sunday, July 18 at 7:30P. Ms. Ripley will reprise her acclaimed performance in the musical's 36-week multi-city North American tour, which arrives at the Providence Performing Arts Center from March 22 - 27, 2011.

James Marsters (Buffy the Vampire Slayer), Emily Bergl (Southland), and Theatre World Award winner and three-time Olivier Award nominee Adam Godley head the cast when L.A. Theatre Works records 'SHE STOOPS TO CONQUER or The Mistakes of a Night' for radio. Also in the cast are Rosalind Ayres, Julian Holloway, Christopher Neame, Paula J. Newman, Ian Ogilvy, Darren Richardson and Moira Quirk. Martin Jarvis directs Oliver Goldsmith's bad and bawdy comedy of manners June 16-20 at the Skirball Cultural Center.

HoCo Open 2010 is a non-juried exhibit held biennially at the Howard County Center for the Arts (HCCA), 8510 High Ridge Road, Ellicott City. Adults, 18 years and older, who live, work or study in Howard County are invited to submit one piece of original artwork completed in the past two years. Artwork drop-off is 4:00-6:00 p.m. on June 28th at the HCCA. Artwork will be accepted for the exhibit on a first-come, first-serve basis, one piece per artist, until the gallery is full.
