The superintendent of schools in Waterbury, Connecticut is making a plea to shut down a school production of August Wilson's JOE TURNER'S COME AND GONE. Mr. Snead claims that educators should not be encouraging people to use the word 'nigger' which appears several times in the script.

Having created the infrastructure, show choices, casting, steering, and completing, the Premiere Season of the newly re-opened North Shore Music Theatre in Beverly, Massachusetts, Producing Artistic Director Evans Haile has announced his decision to move on and allow more time to focus on several projects that further his personal goal of keeping the Performing Arts a vital part of American culture. His one year commitment was completed on December 31, 2010. He still serves as Artistic Director of Cape Cod's historic Cape Playhouse and will co-produce 'Footloose' at both theatres later this year.

When audiences repeatedly request a beloved play, theaters may try to comply within a few years or so. But when the BILL W. & DR. BOB cast told Director Michael Robins that they would 'make their schedules work' if Illusion Theater would remount the 2009 show, Producing Directors Bonnie Morris and Robins knew they had to bring back the inspirational production.

Last year, thousands of people were touched by the story of eleven-year-old Shannon Tavarez. The young Queens native was living her dream, performing the role of Young Nala in Broadway's The Lion King, when she was diagnosed with leukemia in April 2010 and told she needed a bone marrow transplant. While Shannon's story moved thousands of people to register as bone marrow donors, her match was never found. Sadly on November 1, 2010 Shannon passed away.

America Ferrera, known for her role in Ugly Betty, will join the cast of 'The Good Wife' on CBS for a three episode arc, as reported by TVLine.com. Ferrera's first episode will air in February. She will play the role of Natalie, a graduate student who becomes a romantic interest of Eli (Alan Cumming). Ferrera appeared Off-Broadway in Dog Sees God.

NBC has announced that Skeet Ulrich will no longer be a member of the cast of 'Law and Order, Los Angeles,' The New York Times reports today. This was done in an effort to give more screen time to Terrance Howard and Alfred Molina.

In a statement on their website, Ann Taylor announced that Katie Holmes would be the new face of their brand starting with ads in March 2011. Holmes says 'I've been a fan of Ann Taylor since I was a young girl. I grew up loving the clothes...and am really excited to be the face of Ann Taylor for the Spring season. In conjunction with its Family Festivities Series, Westport Country Playhouse is hosting a book collection for Read to Grow, Inc. Beginning with the 2011 season's first Family Festivities show, 'The Commedia Princess and the Pea,' on Sunday, January 16, 1 and 4 p.m., the Playhouse will collect gently used and new children's books which will be given to families and programs in the greater Fairfield County area through the Read to Grow organization. Bins will be located in the Playhouse lobby for book donations.

Tony nominee Christiane Noll (Ragtime) will play Yum-Yum in The Mikado from March 11-13 with the Eugene Opera. The production's cast also includes Nicholas Isherwood, Joel Andrew Weiss, Jamie LaVerdiere, Brooke Cagno and Anne Allgood.

As reported by Deadline.com, Brendan Fraser and Kristin Scott Thomas will star in Neil LaBute's new film, Seconds of Pleasure. The site also reports that Ed Harris and Colin Firth are in talks to appear in the movie.
