Fantasia Barrino has been announced to play the staring role in an upcoming film adaptation of the 1993 book Got to Tell It: Mahalia Jackson, Queen of Gospel, as reported by The Hollywood Reporter. The screenplay for the movie was written by Jim Evering, and Euzhan Palcy will serve as director.

Meetings will be held at the Project Arts Centre in Dublin, the Radisson Blu Hotel in Galway, and the Crawford Art Gallery in Cork. In Dublin, arts spokespersons from all 5 political parties will attend a meeting to outline their respective arts policies and answer questions.

FAB Cafe, the artists' cafe in the East 4th Street Cultural District, is planning a sweet surprise to celebrate the opening week of New York Theatre Workshop's musical Peter and the Starcatcher. FAB Cafe will celebrate its new concession partnership with New York Theatre Workshop by offering delicious mini-cupcakes from the Lower East Side Girls Club's Sweet Things Bakeshop starting February 18, 2011. Cupcakes will be sold for $1 and will be available in the theater's lobby during performances and at the Cafe's main location at 75 East 4th Street. For kids, it doesn't get better - an entertaining, exciting show hand in hand with sweets.

The Theater Company (TTC) can't stand the 'antici...pation' anymore! Richard O'Brien's THE ROCKY HORROR SHOW opens next week! This is TTC's second time producing this Sci-fi cult hit. Due to popular demand, it is being staged again after several years of their patrons begging for a revival. But don't expect the same production as last time, 'Rocky can be done in many different ways,' notes Producing Artistic Director David Zimmerman, 'and we are bringing a fresh design and look to the show instead of copying the movie or our past production. Director Billy Mitchell has shown in the past that he can relate to an audience and create something different and interesting all at the same time, so I am confident we will not only repeat our success, but sell out this production!'
