The cast and crew of Shrek the Musical, the Tony Award-winning production, celebrated the show's one year anniversary on Broadway with a reception on stage at the Broadway Theatre on Sunday, November 8th after the matinee performance. Cupcakes were provided to the cast by CRUMBS Bake Shop. The production also said goodbye to original 'SHREK' star Brian d'Arcy James who played his final performance in the title role yesterday as well. (more...)

Shrek the Musical®, the Tony Award®-winning production, will play its final performance on Broadway at the Broadway Theatre (1681 Broadway) on Sunday, January 3rd, 2010 at 3:00 p.m. following 441 performances and 37 previews. Broadway Classroom will present its next workshop in the new 'Putting it All Together' series on Saturday, December 5, 2009. Taught by Broadway stars Melissa Rae Mahon (CHICAGO, THE PRODUCERS, 42ND STREET) and Sean McKnight (CURTAINS), this innovative 3½-hour workshop includes audition techniques, musical theatre song and movement, and a Q&A with Broadway professionals, as well as lunch at Applebees and a ticket to see Shrek the Musical. SHREK Originals to Play the Windy City?

In the Chicago Tribune yesterday, theater critic Chris Jones reports that Shrek originals Brian D'Arcy James (Shek), Sutton Foster (Princess Fiona) and Christopher Sieber (Lord Farquaad) are scheduled to attend a preview event later this month surrounding the announcement of the Shrek National Tour, reported to be kicking off at Chicago's Ford Center for the Performing Arts in June 2010. SHREK THE MUSICAL Adds "I'm a Believer" to the Broadway Production

Due to popular demand, the hit song "I'm a Believer" has been added to the smash Broadway musical, Shrek the Musical®. Since the musical opened on Broadway last year, an instrumental version of the classic 1960s song was played as patrons left the theatre. Now, beginning with the performance on Friday, October 2nd, the entire company will perform "I'm a Believer." (more...)
