WSJ Drama Critic Terry Teachout Speaks at Bradley Prizes Ceremony in D.C.

Carlotta Corradi Receives First Mario Fratti Award for Emerging Italian Playwrights

Italian realist playwright Carlotta Corradi was awarded the first Mario Fratti Award for Emerging Italian Playwrights on June 24 at the concluding event of the In Scena! Italian Theater Festival NY, which was held at Italian Cultural Institute, 686 Park Ave. The award recognizes her new play, 'Via dei Capocci,' which was given a staged reading by the Festival the day before at Theater for the New City, 155 First Avenue.

Ryan McCartan to Host 2014 Jimmy Awards, 6/30; Finalists Announced!

The National High School Musical Theater Awards (NHSMTA) is pleased to announce that 56 high school students from across America will compete for the coveted Jimmy Award for Best Performance by an Actor and Best Performance by an Actress, at the 6th annual presentation at the Minskoff Theatre on Monday, June 30. Ryan McCartan, 2011 Jimmy Award winner, will host the 2-hour talent showcase that features dynamic ensemble and solo performances. McCartan recently starred as JD in the Off-Broadway hit musical, Heathers, appears regularly as Diggy in Liv & Maddie on the Disney Channel, and is a recurring character on the USA Network's Royal Pains. The event will be held at the Minskoff Theatre (200 W. 45th St) and begins at 7:30 pm.

Nathan Tysen and Arthur Perlman Win 2014 Kleban Prizes for Musical Theatre; Ceremony Held Tonight

The Kleban Foundation's 24th annual Kleban Prize for the most promising musical theatre lyricist has been awarded to Nathan Tysen and the 24th annual Kleban Prize for the most promising musical theatre librettist has been awarded to Arthur Perlman.The 2014 prizes will be presented tonight, June 23, 2014, in a private ceremony (by invitation only) hosted by ASCAP and BMI.

Anika Noni Rose, Andy Karl & ALL THE WAY Honored at Broadway Beacon Awards Tonight

Inside Broadway's Executive Director Michael Presser previously announced that this year, Inside Broadway will honor 2014 Tony Award nominees Anika Noni Rose (A Raisin in the Sun, Tony Award-winner for Caroline, or Change) and Andy Karl (Rocky), and the Broadway production of All The Way at their Broadway Beacon Awards tonight, June 23 at The Essex House (160 Central Park South).

CBS' The Bold and the Beautiful and The Young and the Restless lead the pack with the most nominations. Theatre names in the mix include CABARET's Alan Cumming, Tony-winning composer and lyricist Lin-Manuel Miranda, and Broadway actress Ashley Tisdale.

On Friday, June 20th, the brightest stars of televisions below the line talent in Daytime gathered at the Bonaventure Hotel in Los Angeles to honor their own at the 41st Daytime Creative Arts EMMY Awards. Although many of the individuals associated with nominated projects may not have been household names, there were many recognizable personalities such as Ron Howard, George Lucas, Leeza Gibbons, Jack Hanna and even Cookie Monster (David Rudman). On hand to disperse awards to over 50 categories were such noted performers as Melody Thomas Scott, George Chakiris, Ashley Tisdale, Lauralee Bell and June Lockhart, who has started her 81st year as a paid actress that included her role of Maria Ramirez on General Hospital for many years. The Hub Network Wins Six Daytime Emmy Awards, Including Outstanding Children's Series

The HUB Network, the only network dedicated to providing kids and families entertainment they can watch together, received six Daytime Emmy Awards, including 'Outstanding Children's Series' for 'R.L. Stine's The Haunting Hour: The Series' for the second year in a row, during the 41st Annual Daytime Creative Arts Emmy Awards last night in Los Angeles. This brings the HUB Network's total Daytime Emmy Award wins to 18 after just 3-1/2 years on air.
