2025 AWARDS SEASON

The Suzi Bass Awards, Inc. announced winners for the 2013-2014 Atlanta professional theatrical season this evening at the awards ceremony at the Porter Sanford III Performing Arts Center. The evening was hosted by Rob Cleveland. Presenters included Deadre Moore, Ingrid Cole and Christy Baggett, Eric and Bethany Mendenhall, Veronika Duerr and Laura Cole, Clifton Guterman and WABE's John Lemley, Tess and Mark Kincaid, and Karen Howell and Chris Ekholm. The Joe A. Callaway Awards will be presented alongside the Fichandler Award this year tonight, November 3 in New York City.

Atlanta professional theatres continued their commitment to developing new work with a bounty of productions written or adapted by local playwrights. There are eleven such plays in contention for this year's Gene-Gabriel Moore Playwriting Award. The award, named after the primary founder of the Suzi Awards organization, recognizes an Atlanta-based playwright whose work was produced by a professional Atlanta theatre in the preceding season. A committee of area educators, playwrights and theatre professionals read each of the plays and choose the recipient.

Kate Burton and Katie Lowes have been set to host the 2014 LA STAGE Alliance Ovation Awards Ceremony on Sunday, November 2, at the historic San Gabriel Mission Playhouse in San Gabriel, it was announced today. Red carpet arrivals begin at 5:30 and the ceremony starts at 7pm.

Nominations for the 5th Annual BroadwayWorld Chicago Awards opened on October 6th, and will close at midnight on Halloween, October 31st. One of the oldest and largest regional awards in the entire international BroadwayWorld system, the BroadwayWorld Chicago Awards are Chicagoland's only comprehensive, fan-voted theater awards, covering plays and musicals, Equity and non-Equity, resident and touring productions.

The 7th annual Origin's 1st Irish Festival handed out its jury-voted honors at an awards ceremony at Papillon Bistro and Bar, 22 East 54th Street, on Monday night. Edging out the competition were 'The McGowan Trilogy,' produced by the cell, which grabbed three awards (including best actress, best director and best design), and the Irish Repertory Theatre's 'Port Authority,' which garnered two top prizes -- for best actor and best production.

Michigan's 2013-14 professional theater season was a tempestuous one, an even more unsettled year than usual for the state's theaters. So perhaps it was appropriate that this year's Wilde Awards were the 13th annual edition.

In celebration of excellence in English-language theatre in Montreal, the Montreal English Theatre Awards Committee is pleased to release its list of 2013-2014 nominees. The second annual METAs gala will take place on Monday October 20th at 7:45pm at the Rialto Theatre (5723 avenue du Parc).

For the first time in the Iveys' 10-year history, two people will share the Lifetime Achievement Award. Versatile actor-singer-dancer-improviser Tyler Michaels received the Emerging Artist Award.

On Monday, September 22, 2014, The Innovative Theatre Foundation, the organization who for the past 10 years has been dedicated to celebrating Off-Off-Broadway, announced the 2014 recipients at its annual event. Celebrating ten years and thousands of nominees, the New York Innovative Theatre awards took place at Mason Hall at Baruch Performing Arts Center, 17 Lexington Avenue. The Hispanic Organization of Latin Actors (HOLA), the nation's longest running active arts advocacy organization for Latino actors, have announced that it will honor Obie and Emmy winner Hector Elizondo ('Last Man Standing', 'Chicago Hope', Pretty Woman, Runaway Bride, The Princess Diaries films), five-time Tony nominee Danny Burstein (currently in Cabaret on Broadway), actress Ana Ortiz ('Devious Maids', 'Ugly Betty'), triple threat Bianca Marroquin (currently in Chicago on Broadway), Pedro Pascal ('Game of Thrones'), Cierra Ramirez ('The Fosters') and WNBC-TV anchor Sibila Vargas at the Fifteenth Annual HOLA Awards Gala and Benefit. The HOLA Awards will take place on Monday, October 13, 2014 at 6:30pm at The Battery Gardens, overlooking and located on the waterfront overlooking New York Harbor in Battery Park (opposite 17 State Street in lower Manhattan).

After last year's exciting awards, where The Book of Mormon and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory mopped up the musical awards and The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time picked up the prizes for plays, it's time to open nominations for the 2014 BWW:UK Awards!

It's awards season at Mercer County Community College's Kelsey Theatre. The '2014 Kelsey Theatre Awards,' a Tony Awards-inspired evening that celebrates the theatrical successes of the past year, takes place Saturday, Aug. 16 at 8 p.m. Kelsey Theatre is located on Mercer County Community College's West Windsor campus, 1200 Old Trenton Road.

The 'WHO WANTS TO BE A MILLIONAIRE?' host Terry Crews, the fan-favorite actor, comedian, and star of the hit precinct sitcom 'BROOKLYN NINE-NINE,' will host the 30th Annual Television Critics Association (TCA) Awards, tonight, July 19, at the Beverly Hilton Hotel, announced Scott Pierce, TCA President and TV critic for the Salt Lake Tribune.

It's hard to believe that 2014 is already half over and that the 2013 BroadwayWorld New York Cabaret Awards Show at Joe's Pub happened just about four months ago. This also means that the nomination period for the 2014 Awards is only four months away (end of October, with the final voting period beginning after Thanksgiving). It is with all that in mind that it seemed time for this column, which announces the 2014 BroadwayWorld New York Cabaret Awards categories and changes in the nomination process so that all you cabaret fans can start making mental notes of the year's potential nominees. Broadway In Chicago has announced that Jonah Rawitz of Buffalo Grove, IL (Adlai E. Stevenson High School), representing the Illinois High School Musical Theater Awards, was awarded the coveted Jimmy Award for Best Performance by an Actor on Monday, June 30, 2014 at Broadway's Minskoff Theater. The Jimmy Award for Best Performance by an Actress was presented to Jai'Len Josey, representing the Georgia High School Musical Theater Awards -- Shuler Hensley Awards.

The 2014 Hollywood Fringe Festival ended last night after crowning this year's award winners at the annual Award Ceremony and Closing Night Party. Over 600 people attended the event.

The Broadway League, the national trade organization for the commercial theatre industry, reveals the 2014 League Educator Apple Award recipients. The awards acknowledge the efforts of local teachers and administrators who support programs relating to Broadway or Touring Broadway shows, promoting further development of theatre education.

The National High School Musical Theater Awards (NHSMTA) previously announced that 56 high school students from across America will compete for the coveted Jimmy Award for Best Performance by an Actor and Best Performance by an Actress, at the 6th annual presentation at the Minskoff Theatre tonight, June 30. Ryan McCartan, 2011 Jimmy Award winner, will host the 2-hour talent showcase that features dynamic ensemble and solo performances.
