A LONG DAY'S JOURNEY INTO NIGHT marks Michael Shannon's first Broadway show since his debut in 2012's GRACE. His stellar performance as the oldest Tyrone son has earned him a Tony nomination (Best Performance by an Actor in a Featured Role in a Play), but that doesn't mean that his work is complete. The New York Drama Critics' Circle just announced its 2015-2016 Best Play and Best Musical: Stephen Karam's THE HUMANS and George C. Wolfe, Eubie Blake and Noble Sissle's SHUFFLE ALONG, OR THE MAKING OF THE MUSICAL SENSATION OF 1921 AND ALL THAT FOLLOWED.

The Roger Rees Awards for Excellence in Student Performance (formerly the Gershwin Awards), has announced the 2015-2016 student performers who will compete for the title of Best Actress and Best Actor in a licensed high musical presented by high schools located in Brooklyn, the Bronx, Manhattan, Queens, Staten Island, Long Island and Westchester.

Awards season in NYC is now in FULL swing, and with the critics, press, and industry all having their chances to nominate and vote -- now it's the fans' turn.

Who really cares about spring? Awards season has arrived- the only time of the year that really matters to Broadway fans everywhere. The 2016 Tony nominees were announced earlier this week, with a record 16 nods going to HAMILTON, and show like SHUFFLE ALONG, SHE LOVES ME and LONG DAY'S JOURNEY INTO NIGHT also picking up a considerable amount of recognition. Now that the Tony Award nominations have been announced, it looks like a pretty competitive race for 'Best Choreography.' The category is full of creative and diverse work from four established Broadway vets, and the debut of a new modern voice. Each put their own distinctive stamp on dance genres that include tap, hip-hop, salsa, and traditional folk dances with a twist. Here are the five guys to watch out for on June 12th.

With nominations announced today, CTV now heads into summer with a triple-threat of big acquisitions as the network confirmed today it has acquired the exclusive Canadian rights to THE 70(TH) ANNUAL TONY AWARDS, airing Sunday, June 12 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on CTV and on the CTV GO app.

While we await the 2016 Tony nominations, it has just been announced that SHUFFLE ALONG star Brian Stokes Mitchell will receive the Isabelle Stevenson Award, according to Variety.

Nominations for the 2016 Fred and Adele Astaire Awards, which honor outstanding dance and choreography on stage and screen, were announced just yesterday at the Friar's Club by New York Post columnist Michael Riedel. For the first time, the Fred and Adele Astaire Awards have explored recognizing excellence in dance, movement, and choreography off-Broadway. As BroadwayWorld previously reported, Drama Desk winners Vanessa Williams and Matthew Morrison announced the nominations for the 61st Annual Drama Desk Awards last week, April 28. However, the 'Best Book of a Musical' category was not included this year. After being shamed on social media for leaving the category out of the initial nominations, the Drama Desk Awards (without announcement) quietly added the category back this afternoon on their web site.

The Theatre World Awards, Inc. Board of Directors (Dale Badway, President) has announced the 2016 Theatre World Award Honorees for Outstanding Broadway or Off-Broadway Debut Performance who will be celebrated at the 72nd Annual Theatre World Awards Ceremony on Monday evening, May 23, 2016 beginning at 7:00 p.m. at Circle in the Square Theatre (West 50th Street, between Broadway and 8th Avenue), home of the current 2015 Tony® Award-winning Best Musical, Fun Home.   

The 2016 Lucille Lortel Awards for Outstanding Achievement Off-Broadway were handed out last night to recipients in 18 categories, with two special awards and two honorary awards also bestowed.
