It’s all outrageous, epically silly and ridiculously over the top, combining jukebox musical logic with Airplane!-style parody and sprinkling oodles of sequins on top.

Kat Ronney as Rose and Rob Houchen as Jack negotiate the broad, ridiculous romance with slick comedy timing. They are out-camped by Jordan Luke Gage’s sulking rich boy Cal and a hysterically deranged Ruth, Rose’s mother, played with psychotic precision by Stephen Guarino. As the Seaman, it briefly looks as though Layton Williams will be underused, but when he eventually manifests as a rip-roaring River Deep, Mountain High Iceberg, his casting and performance prove sublime.

What started as one-night showing in Los Angeles, after docking on Broadway, in Canada and Australia, Titaníque has now sailed into London. Based on the idea that global pop icon Céline Dion was actually the hero of the 1997 James Cameron film, Titanic, the absurdity of this dazzlingly camp and frankly ridiculous show only grows from there.
