Bring the whole family to experience this empowering show in its regional premiere - “Will you answer the call?” From New York to Paris, from ragtime to jazz, The Hello Girls chronicles the story of America’s first women soldiers in this new musical inspired by history. These intrepid heroines served as bilingual telephone operators on the front lines, helping turn the tide of World War I. They then returned home to fight a decades-long battle for equality and recognition, paving the way for future generations.
The Hello Girls was first commissioned and premiered by NYC’s Prospect Theater Company to celebrate the centennial of these groundbreaking women in 2018. Honored to be a part of history, members of the original cast continue to perform at prestigious events. Such as a First Colors Ceremony where, for the first time, the American flag is raised over a new National World War I Memorial in Washington, DC. (2021) and at the Kennedy Center (2024) The show has received critical acclaim and earned many awards, including the 2019 Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Music and nominations for Best Musical at the Drama League Awards, cementing its place as an essential new work of American Musical Theater. The Hello Girls is a heartfelt story with an innovative blend of history, making the show a modern musical theater triumph to celebrate.
"The musical numbers are catchy, and the lyrics are bright and intelligent." ~ Wolf Entertainment Guide
“The Hello Girls is a rather thrilling thing — smart, human and sardonically feminist, with a lively ragtime-and-jazz score. As it draws us into the women’s experience, there is a palpable sense of filling in an important blank: showing an adventurous female presence in the war story we thought we knew.” — NY Times
