The Snowmaiden at English Touring Opera

English Touring Opera presents a new production of Rimsky-Korsakov’s The Snowmaiden, a coming-of-age tale steeped in folklore and vibrant melodies. Following the titular character, portrayed by Ffion Edwards, who struggles with her icy heart and the allure of mortal love, the opera explores themes of jealousy and the clash between the mythical and the real. The cast also features Kitty Whately as Lyel, Joseph Doody as the Tsar, and Edward Hawkins as Grandfather Frost, under the direction of Olivia Fuchs. This production runs from September 28 to November 16, 2024, across several venues, including Hackney Empire.
