Do not take my story for a fairytale is a new staging that explores themes of love, isolation, and the natural world's wonders through song cycles and cantatas. Performed by a period-instrument ensemble, the show features acclaimed soloists including tenor Matthew McKinney, soprano Abigail Kelly, mezzo Amy J Payne, and baritone Mark Nathan. This production is part of English Touring Opera's Autumn 2024 season, alongside the acclaimed double-bill of Judith Weir’s Blond Eckbert and a new staging of Rimsky-Korsakov’s The Snowmaiden. Directed by Robin Norton-Hale, the performances promise an atmospheric journey through Romantic imagination and folklore.
