Rough Trade and Rockefeller Center will present the indieplaza festival at 30 Rockefeller Plaza on Saturday, April 20th from 12:00 PM to 9:00 PM. The festival celebrates independent music, minds, and merchandise, and will once again welcome indie to midtown Manhattan. Free and open to the public, indieplaza will feature a thoughtfully curated lineup of artists, an artist merchandise booth, arts & crafts booth, food and beverages, and more.
The festival coincides with Record Store Day 2024, which also falls on April 20th. Record Store Day was conceived in 2007 at a gathering of independent record store owners and employees as a way to celebrate and spread the word about the unique culture surrounding nearly 1400 independently owned record stores in the US and thousands of similar stores internationally. Today, Record Store Day is celebrated at independently owned brick-and-mortar record stores around the world. Rough Trade will open at 9:00 AM on April 20th.
indieplaza is headlined by Chicago trio Dehd in advance of their anticipated new album Poetry. indieplaza will also spotlight some of the buzziest, up and coming artists in music today including: Wishy, an Indiana group with a 90s indie rock sound, NYC-based hip-hop duo Armand Hammer, indie/pop band Water From Your Eyes, and more.
Additional information about the artists and vendors, and a full schedule with showtimes will be released in the coming weeks here. indieplaza is free and open to the public. Attendees are encouraged to pre-register for the event here for guaranteed access and additional perks. Food and drink will be available for purchase.
