Poster House, the first museum in the United States dedicated to the global history of posters, will offer free admission and family-friendly activities on Sunday, November 10 from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM at Poster House, 119 West 23rd Street in Manhattan. Participants are invited to join Poster House’s Education Department for a day of fall family fun. In addition to complimentary museum admission, raffles, and drop-in art-making stations, attendees can enjoy exciting programming including:
Families can pick up a Kids’ Activity Card when they enter at the Info Desk and play Poster Bingo while they walk throughout the museum. When one row is filled, the card can be returned to the Info Desk for a small prize.
Children will visit two posters from Poster House’s exhibition Fantastical Streets: The Theatrical Posters of Boris Buan and learn about colors through a hands-on activity where each participant will create an open-ended, take-home art project using various colorful materials. This program is intended for children ages 2 and 3 (accompanied by their adults).
Visit the Kids’ Gallery, located on the Lower Level of Poster House, and create your own collagraph prints using stickers and other collage materials!
Join Poster House for an exciting workshop activity inspired by Poster House’s exhibition Just Frame It: How Nike Turned Sports Stars Into Superheroes. Learn about branding and marketing through an interactive, family-friendly tour and related art-making experience. This program is designed for children ages 4 to 10 and will be presented in two sessions, one in English and one in Spanish.
Families can stop by the Poster House Timeline, located in the 24th Street lobby, to make their own buttons inspired by previous exhibitions.
Free tickets can be reserved online in advance of November 10. During normal hours, tickets are $12 for adults and $8 for students, educators, veterans, and seniors. Poster House offers free museum admission through New York City’s public library Culture Pass system.
