New Jersey Association of Verismo Opera to Hold Auditions for Principal Conductor/Music Director
Maestro Anthony Morss to Step Down
Lucine Amara, Artistic Director of the New Jersey Association of Verismo Opera, announces that Maestro Anthony Morss, Principal Conductor/Music Director, will step down at the end of the current season. Maestro Morss joined Verismo Opera and assumed these positions in 1995.
Anthony Morss is a conductor of the highest caliber and a true gentleman. His constant dedication to Verismo Opera has been beyond reproach. Maestro has shared his wealth of knowledge with each and every artist, pianist and orchestra member he has come in contact with. His deep love of music and willingness to share this love has to us has been more precious than gold. We will all miss his tall slender figure on the podium, said Lucine Amara.
Verismo Opera will hold auditions for the position of Principal Conductor/Music Director on October 6, 2015 from 6:00 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, located at 60 West 66th Street and Columbus Avenue in New York City. Applicants will check-in at the door and be provided with directions to the audition area. A selection committee comprised of Maestro Morss, Artistic Director Lucine Amara, Stage Director/General Manager Evelyn La Quaif and members of Verismo Opera's board of trustees will review the applicants.
