Second casting call for young actors (8 – 13 years old) for roles in the Up In One Production of Gypsy The Musical.

SYNOPSIS:
Regarded by many theater professionals as the finest musical ever created, Gypsy is set across America in the 1920s and 30s, when vaudeville was dying and burlesque was born. Focusing on Mama Rose, the ultimate “stage mother”, and her two daughters, Arthur Laurents' landmark show explores the world of two-bit show business with brass, humor, heart and sophistication. The musical contains many songs that became popular standards, including Everything’s Coming Up Roses, Small World, Together (Wherever We Go), and Let Me Entertain You.
AUDITION DATE: April 8 at 7 pm. All children will be seen as a group promptly at 7 pm.
Please wear comfortable clothing and shoes for dancing.
REHEARSAL DATES: Rehearsals will begin May 5th. (see general rehearsal schedule in our Audition packet)
PERFORMANCE DATES: July 18 -August 10, 2025 (see schedule in our Audition Packet)
LOCATION: The CENTER for Performing Arts, 661 Route 308, Rhinebeck, NY 12572(Downstairs)
PREPARE: the Song “Let Me Entertain You” and prepare a reading (music, lyrics, and reading provided in the Audition Packet). While it is not strictly required, it is highly recommended that before you attend on April 8th, you send a video singing the song and delivering the reading to upinoneprod@gmail.com

ROLES TO BE FILLED
BABY JUNE: (8 – 13) is a Shirley Temple-like up-and-coming vaudeville star, and Mama Rose’s youngest daughter. Onstage demeanor is sugary-sweet, cute, precocious, and adorable to the nth degree. Mama Rose’s shining star. Strong child singer, dancer.
YOUNG LOUISE: (10-13) Mama Rose’s oldest daughter, has always played second fiddle to her baby sister. Shy, awkward, a little sad, and subdued; she doesn’t have her sister’s confidence. Strong acting skills needed. Always dances slightly out of step but the actress playing this part must be able to dance.
NEWSBOYS: (8 – 13) Singing and dancing young boys who back June’s Vaudeville act.
