Tupelo Community Theatre
will hold auditions for
The Trip to Bountiful
on Sunday, January 11 at 2 p.m. and Monday, January 12
at 7 p.m.
in the rehearsal hall of the Lyric Theatre.
This poignant story tells of an aging widow living with her son and daughter-in-law. Fearing that her presence may be an imposition she imagines that if she can return to her old home in the town of Bountiful, she is sure to regain her strength, dignity and peace of mind. The drama is one of the most celebrated works by the academy award winning southern playwright Horton Foote and is considered one of America's most important plays. Created sixty years ago as a television play for silent film star Lilian Gish the show has attracted leading performers of the American theatre. Geraldine Page won an Oscar for Best Actress in 1985 film version. Cicely Tyson won a Tony award for her performance in an all-African-American production on Broadway last year.
In addition to the older woman there are roles for six adult men and five women.
Production dates for the show are March 19-21.
