The Hampton Theatre Company will hold AUDITIONS for three roles (two female, one male) in a new production of “The Portuguese Kid” by John Patrick Shanley. Directed by Bob Kaplan, the production opens May 25 and runs through June 11. Rehearsals begin April 25.
Auditions for non-union performers will be by appointment from 5 to 7 p.m. on Monday, February 27, and Tuesday, February 28, at the Quogue Community Hall: 125 Jessup Avenue, Quogue, NY 11959. Auditions will be from the script.
SUMMARY: In Providence, Rhode Island, habitually widowed Atalanta Lagana pays a visit to her childhood friend and second-rate lawyer Barry Dragonetti. Intending to settle her most recent late husband's affairs, this larger-than-life Greek lioness quickly becomes a nightmare for her self-aggrandizing attorney. Throw in Barry's impossible Croatian mother Fausta, a dash of politics, and a couple of opportunistic young lovers — Barry's much-younger wife Patty and Atalanta's current boy-toy, Freddie Imbrossi — and you have a recipe for comic combustion.
All non-union actors planning to audition should bring proof of vaccination.
The roles of Atalanta Lagana and Barry Dragonetti have been cast.
Available roles are:
PATTY DRAGONETTI: 29 years old, New Jersey Puerto Rican, wife of attorney Barry Dragonetti.
FREDDIE IMBROSSI: 29 years old, Italian-American, boyfriend of Atalanta Lagana.
FAUSTA DRAGONETTI: 72 years old, Croatian immigrant, Barry’s mother.
