The Gamm Theatre Announces Auditions for Season 28 (2012-13) |

PAWTUCKET, RI (March 1, 2012) - The Sandra Feinstein-Gamm Theatre (The Gamm) will hold auditions for its 28th Season as follows: Equity Principal Auditions will be held on Sunday March 25 and Monday March 26, 2012 from 10 am-1:30 pm and 2 pm- 5:30 pm. Equity members without appointments will be seen throughout each audition day, as time permits.Non-Equity performers may also audition. Audition slots, however, are limited. Auditions will take place at The Gamm Theatre, 172 Exchange St., Pawtucket, RI.
The Gamm is looking to cast various roles in the following plays of the 2012-13 Season, which starts in September and runs through May. The following roles are available:
After the Revolution by Amy Herzog, directed by Tony Estrella Rehearsals begin August 20, 2012. Runs September 13-October 14, 2012
Roles: Emma Joseph: 26, fiercely intelligent, committed leftist activist. Complex, vulnerable, tough. Ben: 50's, Emma's father. Gentle, loving but committed idealist. Mel: Late 40's, Emma's stepmother. Intelligent, straightforward, loving. Leo: 50's, Emma's uncle and Ben's brother. More practical and less idealistic than Ben. Miguel: 26, Puerto Rican-American. Emma's boyfriend. Shares her ideals perhaps with a gentler touch Vera: 70's-80's, Emma's grandmother. The last of the Mohicans. An old communist who isn't about to give in. Morty: 70's, old sympathetic progressive. Rich, Mordantly funny. A contributor to the cause. Jess: 30, Emma's sister. A life-long emotional train wreck. Black sheep, getting it together.
Red by John Logan, directed by Tony Estrella. Rehearsals begin October 15, 2012. Runs November 8-December 16, 2012
Roles: Rothko has been cast Ken: 20's, Rothko's new assistant. Eager, wide-eyed but not naïve. Real depth and spine.
Anne Boleyn by Howard Brenton U.S. Premiere, directed by Rachel Walshe and Tony Estrella Rehearsals begin mid-December. Runs January 10-February 10, 2013
Roles:
All roles require commanding language skills, a strong ear for dialects and versatility, as there is much doubling. Please be prepared to demonstrate a British dialect at the audition.
James I has been cast. Anne Boleyn: 20's, whip smart, sexy, a powerhouse that could turn the world upside down by dint of will. Thomas Cromwell: 40's, cunning Machiavel. Ruthless and sees things before they happen. William Tyndale: 40's, appears rustic, but with a scholar's mind and soldier's force of will. Lady Rochford: 40's, court veteran and Anne's protector. Knows where the bodies are. Cardinal Wolsey: 50's, court schemer and power broker. Ruthless. King Henry VIII: 40's, strong, charismatic, lovestruck, imperious. Not yet the debauched fatso of later Holbein. George Villiers: 20's, young and vain, Court favorite of James. Robert Cecil: 50's, been around the block. Runs James' Court.
The Real Thing by Tom Stoppard, directed by Fred Sullivan, Jr. Rehearsals begin mid-February. Runs March 14- April 14, 2013
Roles:
All roles require a strong ear for dialects. Please be prepared to demonstrate an appropriate British Isles dialect.
Henry has been cast Annie: 30's-40, direct, vulnerable, funny. A very talented actress. Charlotte: 40, tough, a talented actress. No delusions. Max: 40, solid. Appears a rock but capable of crumbling. Billy: 20's, slick, a budding confident leading man type. Brodie: 20-30's, Scottish. A thug. Tough and arrogant. Debbie: 17, Henry and Charlotte's daughter. Funny, direct. Highly intelligent.
Beauty Queen of Leenane by Martin McDonagh, directed by Judith Swift Rehearsals begin April 8. Runs May 2- June 2, 2013
Roles: Mag and Maureen have been cast. Ray Dooley: Early 20's, like a ferret on a double espresso. Hilarious, wired, stupid. A hooligan. Pato Dooley: Mid 30's -40, appears sensitive and a bit broken but sweet. Deep connection with Maureen.
Each performer will be allotted a minimum of 3 minutes and a maximum of 5 minutes. We ask that all performers prepare a 1-2 minute monologue of their choice. Equity Performers only may choose to read from the script(s). The Gamm will provide sides and a reader. Callbacks for individual plays will be announced at a later date.
Please also provide a copy of your headshot/resume at the time of your audition. Two copies of each play will be available at StageSource's Boston office, 88 Tremont St., Ste. 714, Boston, Mass., at least 10 days before the audition for Equity members' perusal. Copies will also be available at the auditions.
