AUDITIONS ON MARCH 23 AND MARCH 25 FOR COMMUNITY ENSEMBLE MEMBERS TO APPEAR IN
BRISTOL RIVERSIDE THEATRE’S PRODUCTION OF THE CHRISTIANS
Bristol Riverside Theatre announces open auditions for community members, ages 10 and older, to perform in the ensemble of its upcoming production of The Christians by Lucas Hnath, running April 30 – May 19. Community members will audition for a part in the church chorus. Rehearsals will take place April 9 – May 1 alongside professional actors, followed by performances on the BRT stage.
Auditions will be Saturday, March 23 from 10am-5pm and Monday, March 25 from 5pm-9pm, with callbacks on Monday, April 1. Appointments are required. Auditions will take place at the BRT Rehearsal Studio at 201 Cedar Street in Bristol. Anyone auditioning will be asked to sing a short selection from his or her favorite song. To schedule an audition, please email David Abers at
dabers@brtstage.org with “The Christians” in the subject line.
“This is a great opportunity for our entire community to participate actively in the work that goes on at BRT,” said Susan D. Atkinson who will be directing the community ensemble for the production. “We’re looking to audition anyone who has ever watched a show and thought, “that looks like fun!”, anyone who wanted to act in high school but was too busy with sports, anyone that sings in a church choir, or anyone who loves watching theatre but has never been onstage.”
The Christians introduces us to Pastor Paul, a preacher about to deliver a sermon that will shake the foundation of his congregation’s beliefs. The shocking revelation of his sermon has powerful consequences.
Previews for The Christians begin Tuesday, April 30 with opening night on Thursday, May 2. Performances run Wednesday through Sunday with a single Tuesday preview until May 19. Additional information about the auditions and requirements are available at
