Shakesperience Productions, Inc. Announces Auditions for
Professional Actors and Teaching Artists

Shakesperience Productions, Inc. is seeking to add THREE full-time Resident Artists (actors/teaching artists) to our spring 2019 team, with contracts extendable. We expect that all applicants will be experienced, polite, organized, and driven—four qualities which we champion using our critically-acclaimed and award-winning approach.

Shakesperience Productions educates and inspires students, families, and theater professionals through the arts in order to explore social constructs and foster mutual respect for all people. Shakesperience creates innovative, interactive, thought-provoking live theatre programs rooted in classical literature by focusing on the dynamic relationship between the artist and the audience.

Resident Artist (Actor/Teaching Artist Position)

Minimum Duration: March 1st – May 31st (or June 13th, based on casting)

Duties include:

1.) Teaching/Performing Shakesperience’s interactive workshops. Topics might include: Shakespeare, Folklore, and Mythology.

2.) Teaching Saturday morning Acting Intensives and residency programs

3.) Writing lesson plans, answering education-related questions, and ensuring compliance with Common Core and state standards

4.) Performing in at least one of the following touring productions: The Jungle Book, The Sword in the Stone, and Romeo and Juliet.

Note: Tour includes driving company van, loading, unloading, pre and post show talkbacks with students, and routine maintenance of set, props, and costumes. Must be able to lift at least 25 lbs. Tour begins and ends each day at company headquarters in Waterbury.

5) Other duties as tasked.

**Musical instruments (guitar, piano), movement, stage combat, technical theater experience a plus.

Applicants must be willing to relocate to Waterbury, CT for the duration of the contract. Owning a car is not absolutely necessary, but is highly suggested. Housing is provided. Resident Artist pay is $325 per week, paid bi-weekly. Non-Equity. EOE.

Please come prepared with a headshot and resume (stapled, 8×10). Bringing an additional Teaching Artist resume is not required, but is encouraged. Audition will consist of 2 contrasting 1-minute monologues, one classical and one contemporary. Classical monologue should be in verse.

Note: We are not currently accepting video submissions.
