Rehearsals and Info for Bright Half Life, directed by Lauren Secrest:
Rehearsals begin: Feb. 3rd
Run: Feb. 21 & 22
8:00 pm showtime both days.
Bright Half Life is “a moving love story that spans decades in an instant—from marriage, children, skydiving, and the infinite moments that make life together.” Through a kaleidoscopic blend of memories, the play captures the evolving relationship between Vicky and Erica, two complex individuals whose lives intertwine in fragmented yet vivid scenes. Through both fleeting and profound moments, the story explores how love, endurance, and hope sustain—and sometimes decay—their relationship as they navigate the challenges and joys of a life together.
ERICA: a “soft butch” to be played by a caucasian actress.
VICKY: appears more traditionally feminine. An African-American, Latina, or Asian actress may play her.
For these roles, we are seeking actresses in their mid-to-late 20s or older, who can embody different ages and stages within the relationship's timeline.
Rehearsals and Info for In The Beginning, directed by Gerald Taylor II:
Rehearsals begin: Feb. 10th
Run: Feb. 28 & Mar. 1
8:00 pm showtime both days.
In a world where everything feels like it is ending, sometimes the answer lies at the start. In the beginning is an exploration of several creation myths from around the world. Told by 4 storytellers, this romp through time and cultures is an adventure for the entire family.
STORYTELLER 1: Gravitas personified. They embody the spirit of possibility tempered with the wisdom of a long life. Any age or ethnicity.
STORYTELLER 2: Well meaning, but a bit of a trickster. There is a permanent, mischievous glimmer in their eye. Any age or ethnicity.
STORYTELLER 3: A pragmatist with a heart of gold. They destroy things only because they want to figure out the inner workings. Any age or ethnicity.
STORYTELLER 4: Is not the bravest or the brightest. But what they lack in flash, they make up in substance. Any age or ethnicity.
All four performers should be comfortable with stage movement. Dance training and other skills are great, but not required. This is an original piece we will be creating together in rehearsals. Open minds are strongly encouraged.
